Fourth Sunday of Advent - December 20, 2020
Important Updates about Masses!
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Greetings form Fr. Saju!

In addition to “In Person Mass attendance”, last weekend we added “In Car Mass Attendance” to all our outdoor Masses. We have received very constructive feedback about our in car Sunday Masses. So, I would like to communicate the following positive steps taken to accommodate effective participation.

  • All Outdoor Masses will be celebrated in front of the Church on a stage facing the parking lot.

  • All outdoor Masses will be open for parishioners to sign up either for “In Person Mass Attendance” (that is joining outdoor with your own chairs in the designated areas) or for “In Car Mass Attendance.” This will be followed for Christmas Masses as well.

  • Starting this weekend, we are increasing the number of cars permitted for “In Car Mass Attendance” to fifty per Mass.

  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for “In Car Mass Attendance.” Movement of cars during Mass is a distraction and a safety concern.

  • All the vehicles will enter through the first gate on O’Connor Drive. The Bailey street entrance will be closed. Please follow the instruction of the ushers in parking your cars. You will be able to see the priest celebrating Mass from your cars.

  • Everyone has to stay in their cars with the windows closed.

  • Mass will be broadcast through 88.3 FM. Please tune in on your car radio.

  • Holy Communion will be brought to each car. Please stay in your car with you face mask on and lower your window when the priest or Eucharistic Minister approaches you to give Holy Communion.

  • After the Masses, you will exit through the second gate on O’Connor Drive.

Please do know that the sign up for Christmas Eve and Christmas day Masses are already open. You may sign up early.

Wishing you a blessed time with good health and well-being,

Fr. Saju Joseph

SIGN UP FOR IN CAR MASS ATTENDANCE
Last weekend many families were able to join us at Sunday Mass from their cars. It was such a joy to see those who otherwise would not be able to attend Mass. This week we have increased the number of cars allowed to 40. We will do our best to direct cars in such a way that families can see and hear the celebration. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, so everyone is parked and seated when Mass begins. All cars will enter through the first gate on O'Connor Drive. Holy Communion will be brought to each car. This will not change the in person Mass schedule, sign up and attendance.

Reserve only ONE spot for each car (Click below for sign up and guidelines)

December 20, 2020 4th Sunday in Advent
2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16 • Romans 16:25-27 • Luke 1:26-38

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” —Luke 1:30
There are times when I do things that I know must disappoint God. There are other times that I’ve done things that I hope are very pleasing to God. But can you imagine being told directly by an angel that you have found favor with God? That would be amazing! Mary was someone very special to God. He wanted her to carry his Son. She always tried to do everything in her life to please the Lord.
During this last day of Advent, ask Mary to pray for us to have the same desire she did, to do everything in our life to make God happy.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for showing us through Mary such a beautiful example of faith.

POPE DEDICATES 2021 AS YEAR OF ST JOSEPH
Pope Francis has announced a special year dedicated to St. Joseph starting from 8 December 2020 until 8 December 2021, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of St. Joseph as the Patron of the Universal Church, as well as the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady. It is also so fitting that this coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Diocese of San Jose.

The Apostolic Penitentiary also issued a decree granting special indulgences for the duration of the special year to celebrate the anniversary and “to perpetuate the entrustment of the whole Church to the powerful patronage of the Custodian of Jesus.”
CONGRATULATIONS!

We congratulate Tony Famave on his transitional diaconate ordination that will take place on December 19, 2020.

Because of the pandemic restrictions, on behalf of Tony and the Diocese, I would like to invite you to celebrate this Ordination Mass virtually, it will be available on Diocesan Facebook.
