Beloved of God,

'Twas the night before, the night before, the night before Christmas, and all through the church
the staff were preparing for Jesus' birth!

It is only a few short days until Christmas when we welcome again the Christ child! I pray that in these holy days you find some peace and joy amid preparations and festivities.

While so many of us celebrate, enjoying time off work and school to be with family, we remember those for whom this is not a joyous time or for whom there is no rest. Those who are experiencing homelessness and unemployment, those who have fled their homes, those for whom home is not a safe place, those who are sick and grieving, those who work so that the rest of us can rest. Reach out if you can to anyone you know who needs it. You don't have to do or say anything. Just be there and give a little love. Be God's presence in someone's life this Christmas. That is the best way to celebrate our God who became human and lived among us.

Jesus is Emmanuel, which means, God With Us. God is indeed with us in everything we do and say, in our waking and our sleeping, in our moments of joy and the depths of our sorrow. May you be a sign of God With Us to someone this week.

Peace to you!
Pastor Sarah

Nominating Committee Update

The Nominating Committee is Brandy Timmons, Sean Fraley, Tom Miller, and Pastor Sarah. Their work to invite individuals to serve on Council will wrap up early in January.

There are five roles opening this year: President, Treasurer, and three Members at Large. The Nominating Committee is looking for folks who have the following characteristics: active faith life, open minded, self-differentiated, good listener, good communicator, can see the big picture, open to change, and value the  history of the congregation. The committee also has an eye on finding a mix of demographics including, age, gender, and length of time in the congregation,  among others.

If you are interested in serving on Council, or you know someone who might be a good Council member, please talk with one of the Nominating Committee.

A slate will be created for the  annual meeting. Nominations are also accepted from the  floor.
  • We are looking for ADULT volunteers to staff the Nursery with our confirmation student volunteers on Sunday mornings. All volunteers must have completed Safeguarding training and adults must have a background check.
  • Please sign up to purchase flowers for Sunday mornings, or to provide refreshments for fellowship after service. Sign up sheets are available in Narthex.
Please email Melissa (office administrator) at with any questions.
