Mary Anne Piacentini Honored with Inaugural Terry Hershey Award
We are so pleased to announce that our very own Executive Director, Mary Anne Piacentini, is among the inaugural honorees of the Terry Hershey Award for Texas Women in Conservation sponsored by Audubon Texas. The award, named for renowned Houston conservationist Terry Hershey, is well deserved for all of Mary Anne's hard work and dedication to the Katy Prairie Conservancy and its mission. The other honorees are Carol Dinkins, Susan Rieff, and Ellen Clarke Temple.
Conservation Education Specialist, Jaime Gonzalez, applauded Mary Anne for being recognized among other similarly exemplary honorees. He noted that this recognition of women in conservation, especially those in Texas that make such an impact in conservation state-wide, is well overdue and is a welcome inspiration to other women in the field of conservation.
We are so proud of all of Mary Anne's accomplishments and cannot wait to celebrate her success at the awards luncheon on February 5th! For more information on the honorees and the event, please go to texaswomeninconservation.org.

What to wear for trips to the prairie? All participants should wear appropriate outdoor clothing, including closed-toe shoes and long pants. A long-sleeve shirt is also recommended. Be sure to dress in layers as sometimes the temperature of the prairie can change rapidly - from hot to cold and windy. Hats are great if you want to be shielded from the sun. Please bring your own water and insect repellent.
