News You Can Use     WINTER 2016

To all of our valued friends,
As we near the end of 2016, the Board of The FAWCO Foundation would like to tell you how grateful we are for the support we have received from FAWCO member clubs, from individual members, and from FAUSA and its members. We hope that you are happy with the work that we have accomplished this year on your behalf: nine Education Awards were given, totaling $37,000, and eight Development Grants were awarded at $36,000. The final disbursement of $20,944 to our NEEED program was made to fund six scholarships for young women in Burkina Faso to complete their third-level studies.
We are very grateful to have you all as our supporters and  friends. Please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions for ways in which we can improve our service to FAWCO clubs and FAUSA. Our only mission is to support our shared philanthropic goal to improve the lives of women and children across the world.
On behalf of the Board, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday time and a peaceful new year for all the people of the earth.
With best wishes,
President, The FAWCO Foundation

Th e deadline for applications for both the Education Awards and Development Grants is coming up at the end of January. The holidays will be over and before you know it, that January deadline will be looming.

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it's easy to overlook important details that are a part of the application process. Please take the time to thoroughly go through the applications, gather all documents and ensure that you have not missed anything. Teachers and administrators will be busy after the holidays and getting last minute recommendations, school records and paperwork may not be a quick process.

Additionally, be sure to double check the eligibility requirements for all grants and awards.

The deadline for Education Award and Development Grant applications is January 27, 2017!

Year after year, generous FAWCO members throughout the world have donated high-end items to help our charity programs. This year, we have a beautiful emerald and diamond cluster ring with a central oval emerald surrounded by 10 brilliant cut diamonds and a small baguette-cut diamond at each shoulder. The dimensions of the emerald are 6 x 7.8 x 4.4 = 1.14 cts. Estimated value is $2830. The drawing for this beautiful piece will take place April 1, 2017 at the 43 rd Biennial FAWCO Conference in Mumbai. You do not need to be present to win.

                CHRISTINE FUNKE

Christine finished her Web Design Professional Certificate Program in February 2016.
She enjoyed learning how to be creative and was able to put much of her new knowledge and skills into practice within her business. She was able to complete the course work while working full time and she designed her first website for a client at the end of 2015 using the preparation process she had learned in the course "Web Design."

Christine is still thrilled and very appreciative to have received the Women in Technology Award through The FAWCO Foundation. It has allowed her to expand her knowledge, skills and interest in the field of web design. That in turn will benefit other women in their businesses as well as their personal interests.
