Moving Together, Moving Ahead
Carlos Bell, President
I want to thank the ACPE membership for voting to approve the new bylaws and a reorganized governance structure. This is your design and your association. The synergy exhibited by you has been exceptional and it positions ACPE for a creative, invigorating, and brighter future. ACPE is Moving Together, Moving Ahead!

The ACPE Board of Representative's dedication and leadership led the ACPE to challenge ourselves to engage in the task of moving ahead. During the fall 2016 ACPE Board Meeting, the Board acknowledged that the transition to the new bylaws will be a process and we are committed to keep the membership informed.

Congratulations to ACPE's Newly Certified!
Congratulations to the Associate Supervisors and ACPE Supervisors who passed certification committees at the fall meeting in Decatur, GA or at their regional meeting!

We hope you will join us at the Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN for the Certification Commencement!

ACPE Wins on Giving Tuesday!
giving tuesday 2016
On Tuesday, November 29th, ACPE joined thousands of non-profit organizations across the country in Giving Tuesday: The National Day of Giving. On that day 50 ACPE members, friends, and 100% of ACPE staff gave $5,600 in gifts and pledges to help ACPE Share our Story on what makes CPE special! That's right-we exceeded our $5,000 goal!

Money raised on Giving Tuesday will support the launch of our new look and feel in honor of our 50th Anniversary Celebration. Thank you to all who supported ACPE on Giving Tuesday, and in this year's Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign! Because of your generosity, we have almost met our $85,000 annual campaign goal! There's still time to make your year-end gift by December 31, 2016.
Innovative Program Award Recipients
At their November meeting, the Foundation for ACPE board of directors approved $15,000 in grant awards to support three innovative CPE projects. The Innovative Program Award Committee received 9 proposals requesting a total of $39,808. This year's committee consisted of Ruth Alpers, Kathleen Gallivan, Don Ledbetter and Nancy Anderson, chair.

Research informed CPE: Transforming indeed!
Judy Ragsdale SQ
Judy Ragsdale
ACPE Supervisor
Since the significant research and argument for research presented by Larry VandeCreek, research has become a subject of interest for some in the fields of chaplaincy and CPE. George Fitchett took up the banner with a commitment equal to Larry's, and has made connections with a wide variety of researchers in multiple fields on several continents. Research has been scary to many people of faith. Science and religion have historically held an adversarial, suspicious relationship with each other.

ACPE Mission to Israel
Israel Maven
As a new initiative focusing special attention on the professional well-being of our Supervisors, we are proud to share this unique opportunity to travel together. In late January 2018 (specific dates to be determined), ACPE will be hosting a mission to Israel, a unique country that is home to many religions. This is a voluntary trip that is open to members of ACPE and their spouses/partners/significant others.

The mission will be a 10-day experience designed to foster community, offer opportunities for learning, to engage with one another, to experience the holy sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well as the modern state of Israel, and to have professional opportunities to engage with colleagues in Israel who are in the emerging field of spiritual care with site visits to centers.

Reinvigorating the Spirit of Leadership
An Invitational Retreat with Parker Palmer,
Marcy Jackson, &  Amani Legagneur

Thirty invited guests will join us for this rare opportunity to be in retreat with Parker Palmer, Marcy Jackson, and Amani Legagneur. At the intersection of vocation and identity, we find the purpose for which we are alive, the unique way in which our individual being contributes to the community of all being. The purpose of this retreat is to encounter others and ourselves compassionately and courageously at this sacred intersection.
