The Latest News from the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary
Five years ago, we were no different than any other family preparing for Christmas. Little did we know that the unthinkable was about to happen and instead of writing holiday cards, we would be writing our daughter's obituary.

On December 14, 2012, we lost so much. We lost our daughter. Our son, Freddy, lost his sister. The world lost its innocence.

But in that loss, we eventually found much. Through the support and generosity from people across the country and around the globe - we found Catherine. By honoring her love of animals, we are creating a sanctuary where all beings can be transformed by compassion and acceptance. Our Senior Paw Project and work with over 19 rescues continue her mission of kindness while our annual Butterfly Party welcomes over 3,000 people and last year, found homes for 55 animals. We're even bringing programming into the Newtown Public Schools K-4 classrooms while offering free "Sundays at the Sanctuary" workshops that reach 400 people every month.

The sanctuary is a safe haven of healing and kindness for all beings. In a hurting world, maybe this place will be an instrument of change in the trajectory of someone's life. Maybe - just maybe - a family celebrating the holidays will not be faced with the reality of which we were faced five years ago. And if we can do that, we have honored Catherine's message of kindness and good will for all.

Couldn't make it to the Gala but still want to support the Sanctuary? Consider sponsoring a newly planted 20' Norway Spruce tree and have your family or organization's name inscribed on a bronze plaque. These majestic conifers will hug the Sanctuary meadows, providing evergreen beauty and shelter for birds and squirrels who call the Sanctuary home. Sponsor
