It's very important so just hang in there.

REPORT ON THE MOROCCAN COOKING ADVENTURE - November 10

Sixteen Probus "Foodies" ventured to the Worldly Gourmet in Ladysmith to learn the secrets of balancing the wonderful combinations of flavours in Moroccan cuisine.  There are more courses scheduled in the New Year.  Learn more here.

REPORT ON NOVEMBER SPEAKER -
Dr. Graham Pike, Dean of International Education at VIU

After 40 years of teaching, 30 of which have been in International Studies, it was evident that Dr. Pike continues to be passionate about his love of teaching and fostering the international students who have become an integral and essential part of VIU.

VIU is unique in that it is the only university...
Tribute to a Special Lady: Helen Manson

Late in October, our PROBUS family lost one of those special people who brought much  fun and friendship to our Club.  Helen Manson will be remembered as a woman always looking for, or creating, a laugh.  A practical joker, she loved to engage everyone with her antics, stories and flamboyant style.
Never short for a quick quip, Helen put life into everything she participated in whether it was a car rally, wine makers event, or being Mrs. Claus; she was the consummate performer who did it as part of her everyday life.  She was half of the Helen and Stew team that was such a big part of our Club for over 10 years.

Here's What's in the Works...
There will be no speaker in December; instead we will ring in the holiday season with our usual Christmas fun, songs and goodies .  But other very interesting speakers are lined up in the new year, thanks to Robert Grose:

On January 5, Kathleen Gilbert's topic will be Naming the Named:  The Surveying, Mapping and Naming of BC's Coast.

On February 2 Darin Guenette, Manager of Public Affairs will give us a BC Ferries Update and promises to answer any of our questions.

On March 2nd we will hear from Dwight Owens on the topic of Sunken Treasure:  Canada's Hydro Thermal Vents.

On April 6th John Deniseger will tell us about the new Rhodendron Gardens at Milner Gardens.

The big event we are all waiting for is our ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY, to be held on
December 6th at Fairwinds Golf Club.  Read more about it in this issue.  In the works for early in 2018 is another Trivia Night, when our Club will challenge Nanoose Bay Probus Club.  Watch your eNews for further details.
