SC Livable Communities Alliance:  Update!
In coordination with other partners in the South Carolina Livable Communities Alliance, we achieved commitment from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) for a Multimodal Advisory Committee!

The SC Livable Communities Alliance steering committee consists of:  AARP-SC, Able South Carolina, Eat Smart Move More, American Heart Association SC, SC Alliance of YMCA's, and the Coastal Conservation League.  Stay tuned for more information, as we work steadily to enable more community-led ability to build more bike-able, walk-able, and livable streets throughout our state.

SC is now the 41st Bike Friendliest state
South Carolina improved its ranking this year to #41 most bike friendly state in the country. With 5 Bike Friendly Communities, 22 Bike Friendly Businesses, and 3 Bike Friendly Universities, the PCC works hard to enable safer streets on the 70% of SC roads that are state owned.  See the national ranking matrix here, the Bicycle Friendly Actions they recommend for advancement, and the Guide to their report card data.
Share the Road plates... How many?!!!

How many PCC plates do you have?
One PCC member, Scott, has 3!

We're not certain why :)  But remember, when you buy and sell your car,  you can transfer your  plate every time.

If you too have a story about your PCC plate, let us know!  Better yet, give one as a holiday gift this year.  See how.

Good Read:
Bike Infrastructure, Need or Want?

We were inspired by commentary from Athens, Georgia, during their sales tax campaign for transportation infrastructure, including facilities for biking. The messaging they utilized worked, because the referendum passed!

If your city tried and failed a sales tax campaign for local funding, this commentary gets real in communicating requested changes as a need, rather than a want.  It worked for them, and hopefully an inspiration to others.
