A new study from Ohio State University’s Risk Institute reveals road design modifications can reduce the frequency and severity of distracted driving crashes. According to the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) found that even the length of a roadway segment or number of lanes had an impact on the frequency of distracted driving crashes. Hints for Policy Comparisons

Make sure you know which policies you are comparing. There’s a big difference if you’re asking me to compare an ISO DP-3 to an ISO CP 00 10 or if you’re asking me to compare a carrier specific DP-3 (or state specific DP-3) to an ISO CP 00 10. I need to know what endorsements might be modifying the policies in question. I really need to know the edition dates of the policies. All of these details make a difference in making comparisons because every edition of every policy has differences. Read more

Burst pipes and bad tenants

A lease for use of a single-family dwelling was executed. During the term of the lease, the tenants left the property for a winter vacation that lasted about two weeks. The tenants were responsible for ordering and paying for fuel for the dwelling’s oil-fueled heating system but had not ensured that the heating system had enough oil to operate for the duration of their absence. Ohio Department of Insurance Director Jillian Froment is urging Ohio consumers to review and consider the specifics of short-term, limited duration plans prior to purchase.
