December 2018 Prayers

Week 1: December 1-8
December 1 is World AIDS Day . Pray for the work of the faith community to advocate for global action, reduce stigma, provide care, encourage adherence to treatment and inspire hope among those living with HIV/AIDS. HIV Requires Multi-Pronged Response from the Faith Community for more about the response.

Prayers of thanks for the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance campaign to encourage faith leaders to Lead by Example
and get tested for HIV.
Week 2: December 9-16
The United Nations says 400,000 children in Yemen will suffer acute malnutrition by the end of 2018, and half the country of 28 million is at risk of famine. Pray for an end to the war and for political will among the international community to end the humanitarian crisis. Voices from the crisis

Pray for people living and working in Cameroon who have lost loved ones to the violence from Anglophone separatists in the region. Pray for calm and safety and an end to the conflict.
Week 3: December 17-23
Pray for an end to the Ebola outbreak in the DRC. Prayers of thanks for the work of World Vision, IMA World Health, WaterStep and all others responding. FBOs Respond As Ebola Returns to DRC

Prayers of thanks for advances in science and new treatments for Ebola in the current outbreak in the DRC. 
Week 4: December 24-31
Prayers of thanks for the miracle of Christmas. "The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine." Isaiah 9:2

Pray for those struggling with poor health, loneliness, addiction and other mental and physical ailments. May they feel purpose in life and the embrace of a loving community during the Christmas season.
