Serving the Community Since 1890
December 2019

The library will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25. The library will close at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 and will be closed on Wednesday, January 1. Best wishes for a joyous holiday and our sincere thank you for your patronage and support throughout the year.

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will once again offer library patrons the opportunity to share the joy of books with children during the annual “Give the Gift of Reading” program. Gift of Reading donations will be accepted from November 29 through December 31.
The beneficiary of this year’s Gift of Reading will be the Dolly Parton Imagination Library administered locally by Hancock Literacy. The Imagination Library mails an age appropriate book each month to enrolled children ages 0-5. Numerous studies have shown that parent/child reading increases substantially in Imagination Library households. A study in Middletown, Ohio illustrated that children participating in the program scored 14% higher than non-participants in kindergarten literacy testing. Over 2,100 children are currently participating in Hancock County. Since 2014, the local program has distributed nearly 100,000 books. Over 127 million books have been distributed to children worldwide.
Donations to Gift of Reading may be made at the check-out desk in the library lobby area or by mail at Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, Gift of Reading, 206 Broadway, Findlay, OH 45840. For further information, call the library at 422-1712.
