Help Lower Income Home Owners Be Safe and Healthy this Holiday Season, and Forever!

We hope you are enjoying a happy holiday season! For this last month of 2019, we are focusing much of our work on our new Critical Home Repair program. We've received dozens of applications for home repairs, and began our first job last week.
If you'd like to help us finance this meaningful work, please read more below.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Executive Director

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland's new Critical Home Repair service helps low-income
homeowners make needed repairs so they can live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home. This program is part of a Habitat for Humanity's effort to serve homeowners who are affected by age, disability, or family circumstances who struggle to maintain the integrity of their homes.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland recognizes that new home construction is only a part of the solution for quality, affordable housing. The Critical Home Repair program is part of our broader community development strategy to transform and strengthen communities.
This new program requires an affordable payment from the homeowner for a portion of the repair costs, but relies on your donation to make these needed repairs. You can make a difference for these families that so often slip through the cracks!

Volunteer of the Month
Dave Masson
This month's highlighted volunteer is Dave Masson. Dave volunteers in our ReStore.
Dave began volunteering at the ReStore about four years ago. He discovered Habitat ReStores while living in Colorado. After moving to Maine he decided to look into a volunteer opportunity, and the ReStore was a good fit because he likes to do things with his hands. He says he enjoys working with the Habitat staff and volunteers.
Dave's background includes time in the U.S. Navy, being a pilot and co-pilot on corporate aircraft, then time in the Federal Aviation Administration in the air traffic control field. He also worked as an Aeronautical Information Specialist with the Department of Defense Mapping Agency. He and his wife Millie moved to Maine to be close to their daughter and family. His other hobbies include woodworking and gardening.
