During the month of November, the National Hockey League celebrated
Hockey Fights Cancer
during which each team hosted a special event to raise awareness for the fight against cancer. The New Jersey Devils supported this initiative during their November 23 game against the Detroit Red Wings. As part of the effort, the Devils signed 10-year-old brain cancer survivor, Grace Eline to a one-day contract for the game. She joined the Devils at practice, was fitted with her own hockey equipment and jersey and joined the team on ice. Grace was treated at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility. RWJBarnabas Health is the official health care provider of the New Jersey Devils.

, associate vice chancellor of cancer programs at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, was named chair of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Board of Directors at the Society's annual meeting in Chicago earlier this month. Dr. Haffty, who also serves as professor and chair in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and is a national leader in radiation oncology and clinical trials.
