Ontario Seniors Dental Program
The new Ontario Seniors Dental Program is now accepting applications. This program is geared to seniors living on low-income who otherwise do not have access to any dental coverage. Treatment and services are provided by the Community Dental Health Clinic at Peterborough Public Health in downtown Peterborough. If you have patients who could benefit, please have them apply online by visiting www.ontario.ca/seniorsdental. Patients can also call us at 705-743-1000, ext. 321 for assistance in completing their application.
New Option for Prenatal Education
Peterborough Public Health is pleased to offer pregnant individuals and their families a new option for prenatal education. As part of our comprehensive educational options, including in-person group classes and one-on-one teaching, we are now offering a FREE online prenatal program for residents of the city and county of Peterborough and Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nations.

Our program offers information designed to cover pregnancy, labour and birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Each module includes engaging videos, 3D animations, learning activities, fun quizzes, helpful web links, downloadable PDFs, and a Parent’s Toolbox. Information can be easily accessed from a computer, phone or tablet. There are no commercials or sponsored content and all information is current and evidence-informed. Clients can use the program to learn when, where, and how they prefer.

How is the Local Influenza Season Shaping Up?
Peterborough Public Health (PPH) has created a useful online dashboard of influenza activity indicators to help healthcare providers quickly determine how the flu season is developing in the Peterborough region. The “ Weekly Influenza Report ” ( register here ) is updated every Tuesday during the flu season.
Iron Requirements in the First Two Years
Low socio-economic status, preterm birth, and suboptimal diet are risk factors for iron deficiency. Appropriate iron intake in the first two years of life is critical to support healthy growth and development. A newly released practice point by the Canadian Paediatric Society, Iron Requirements in the first two years of life is now available for clinicians: www.cps.ca/en/documents/position/iron-requirements
