Communication through the Generations
Students from LSSU's Interpersonal Communication class met with elder community members at Bayliss Public Library to gain an understanding of how their experiences with communication differ from the type of communication we have today. Following those meetings, the students gave presentations regarding how communication and culture have changed over time. Ten students and ten community member participated in the one-on-one interviews.

Chad LaFaver '17,
a Great Lakes fisheries biologist with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians in Harbor Springs, recently sent this note to LSSU professors Ashley Moerke and Kevin Kapuscinski:
Just thought I would drop you two an email and thank you for preparing such great workers. I have just finished a near 2 week project where we collected cisco and lake whitefish from gill nets to supply our hatchery with close to 1 million eggs from each species. At the same time, we are also partnering with USGS, MiDNR, and GTB conducting a cisco telemetry study in Grand Traverse Bay. I managed a crew consisting of 6 Laker Alumni (myself included) and I couldn't be happier with their work and knowledge. Just wanted to thank you both for all you have done and continue to do to prepare your students for great career of the fisheries field.
