While I am writing this letter, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my family from out of town. My daughter is so excited she can hardly go 30 seconds without breaking into a festive song, or blurting out a question about, “How many minutes until… Opa and Oma get here, I get to ride in the parade, I can set the table?”
We are hosting Thanksgiving again this year and my parents have been looking forward to taking part in the holiday festivities (I often wonder if they enjoy the parade more than my company). Every year they ask me before they leave, how did we manage to find such a “Norman Rockwell”-like community? Normally I would give them the standard, “we just got lucky I guess,” but after nearly a year as Chamber President I have discovered that there is much more to it than just luck.
I have seen the work that the Chamber office, Village officials, committees and businesses put in daily to make sure that we are always improving. I have seen the support our community gives to each other in times of need. So, this year I have a better answer for my parents; our community works really hard to make it happen!
