The Power of Service to Others is a timely topic for this TLG last newsletter of 2019 and a reminder of not only what the holidays are all about, but what service to others means for our businesses, our employees, and even our own health.

All of our best wishes to you and your family as we celebrate the season.

You Never Know When You
Will Have an Impact

I know everyone reading this has stories about favorably impacting a life and never knowing that it was happening when it was happening.
Here are two quick stories that I can share. The point of sharing the stories is not to suggest that I did anything extraordinary. There are a couple reasons I am sharing.

First, when I heard from both of the people in the stories, I was really overwhelmed with a feeling that I made a difference. Secondly, sometimes in life we move on from one thing to another and don’t stop to assess the positive or harm you can be causing by any act.

This is my favorite book. Why? Because it reminds me of my mom who is now 92 years young. She has given everything she had for her family (with my dad) and never made it look like it was anything special.

A few years ago, I served as a mentor for young professionals through Cable, Nashville’s premier leadership organization for women’s professional advancement. I received a heartfelt ‘thank you’ note from my amazing mentee that I still keep printed in my office to this day. It serves as a constant reminder to “do more of this” and keep paying it forward just like all the women that have poured into me over the years. …She also sent me wine, but that bottle is long gone 😉
