Woo Hoo! We're Famous!!
SVR featured on United Press International

The November 2019 Romaine Recall inundated our composting program with approximately 133 tons of packaged lettuce. Our organics crew has been working tirelessly in the rain with Rip to get the organic material out of packing and ready for composting and energy creation at Carmel Area Wastewater District. Thanks to SVR's efforts and steady focus on organics, we were able to divert this material from the landfill; saving landfill space, reducing greenhouse emissions, and utilizing waste as a resource!
New use proposed for contaminated romaine lettuce: the compost pile:  …”The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority is diverting as much romaine as possible to either composting or wastewater facilities, Mathews said. Wastewater facilities utilize the lettuce to produce methane gas, which they then use to power the facility.”
SVR is Proud of our Accomplishments!
