Executive Director Report
For some of us December is our favorite time of the year with the atmosphere full of joy and merriment. This year, people are especially looking forward to 2021 for a lot of reasons, but Keep Mississippi Beautiful is finishing out 2020 with quite a bit of excitement.   Today, I heard a quote from Michael J. Fox, “Grateful is Optimistic” and I immediately thought that I am so grateful and excited to announce that Keep Mississippi Beautiful has three new Board Members – Morgan Clark-Schnur with Clark Beverage Group, Sherry Stegall with CSpire, and Thomas Gregory with Mississippi Main Street.  Keep Mississippi Beautiful has the best Board of anyone and I do so appreciate all of their support.  Excitement keeps getting better -  I want to announce we certified three new affiliates this year and that brings our total to the big 50 - Keep Richland Beautiful, Keep Ocean Springs Beautiful and Keep Walnut Grove Beautiful – welcome to our family. I want to thank all of our Mississippi Affiliates for all of their hard work this past year, with all of the challenges, many have continued to have cleanups – you are amazing!  Last bit of information – Keep Mississippi Beautiful has a new home; yes, we have moved and we hope everyone will come by and see us in our new office.  We moved around the corner from our old office and Neeley and I are loving our new place.
Neeley and I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – Blessings for all of you and your families !

Welcome Keep Ocean Springs Beautiful
& Keep Walnut Grove Beautiful
Keep Mississippi Beautiful is now a network of 50 affiliates!

On October 5, we welcomed Keep Ocean Springs Beautiful. Mayor Shea Dobson will serve as the Affiliate Director. During their first year they plan to host 2 cleanup days and focus on promoting recycling throughout the city.
Keep Walnut Grove Beautiful became our 50th affiliate on November 16, 2020. This past year, Mayor Brian Gomillion became familiar with Keep Mississippi Beautiful when he joined our Wildflower Trails of Mississippi program. Mayor Gomillion will serve as the Affiliate Director for their program. Their first year goals include a community wide cleanup, adding welcome signage into the city, additional wildflower sites, and painting murals.

We are very excited to welcome both of these cities to our affiliate network!

Keep MS/AL Beautiful Conference

Keep Mississippi Beautiful was able to have a few of our Mississippi Affiliates on November 7 for a socially distant gathering for a sharing session that morning followed by a viewing party of the virtual conference after lunch.

Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful Tree Planting
Due to two massive storms that hit Corinth and Alcorn County in 2019 and 2020, the City of Corinth lost 76 trees in the Crossroads Regional Park. Replacing these was to be a major part of Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful's 2020 Great American Cleanup State kickoff. Due to Covid challenges – the tree planting was completed with the remainder of project to be held in the spring of 2021.
Future Dates:

November 15-18, 2021 Keep America Beautiful Conference, Washington D.C.
