Over the past year, over 1,000 members of PILI’s community have offered their time, money or talent to ensure everyone in every part of Illinois has access to justice. Through PILI, we have all come together to make a difference.

As you can read in the 2020 Year in Review, PILI brings people together from across our legal community to tackle every facet of access to justice. PILI converts gifts into system-wide positive impact—together, we not only directly serve those who need legal help, but also engage, inspire and empower people like you who are advancing equal access to justice.

Illinois Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal clinic where low-income Illinois residents can submit a question online to ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue. We're seeing an increase in questions during the COVID-19 Pandemic and need more volunteers to answer questions. Learn more.

Self-represented litigants in the Illinois Appellate Court face many unique challenges without adequate resources to assist them through the appellate process. This platform is the first-ever virtual legal advice clinic for civil appeals in Illinois. Volunteer lawyers with appellate experience are needed! Learn more. 

IL-AFLAN provides civil legal services across Illinois to veterans, active duty military and their spouses and dependents and PILI refers pro bono matters in the 101 counties outside of Cook County. Help us serve those who have served us!  Learn more.

In addition to celebrating the work of PILI and honoring those who embody the very best ideals of the legal profession, we raised nearly $23,000, thanks to the generosity of so many of you and our sponsors. This will allow PILI to open the gateway to justice even wider and help more people, families and communities in need. Thanks to the leadership of PILI's Young Professionals Board, we raised over $9,000 for Giving Tuesday. This far exceeds any other amount raised for Giving Tuesday, which occurs every year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Money raised will go towards PILI's mission of engaging, inspiring and empowering those advancing equal access to justice. Thank you to all our donors who participated and to the Young Professionals Board for leading this effort!

PILI has recently received renewed funding from several funders. These funders included the Lawyers Trust Fund, Francis Beidler Foundation, Illinois Equal Justice Foundation and Retirement Research Foundation. We are so grateful for their continued support of PILI's mission to engage, inspire and empower those advancing equal access to justice.
