4-H Good Standing Requirements
Members, parents and leaders, do you know exactly what 4-H members need to do to be in “good standing”? Do you know what the “good standing” requirements are? If not, please take a moment to check these out now. Don’t wait until before the fair (or other event/activity) when you may not have enough time to meet the requirements.
Remember, a 4-H member in good standing is one who has met the following requirements:
- Enrolls in a 4-H Club between October 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021
- Club meeting requirements are temporarily suspended, although members are encouraged to attend digital meetings on a regular basis to stay up to date and visit with other members.
- Follows the NM 4-H Conduct and Behavior Expectations of Youth and Adults.
February 1st 4-H Enrollment Deadline
The enrollment deadline for all 4-H members, re-enrolling and new members, is February 1, 2021. This year, all enrollments will be completed through 4-H Online.
Once you have created an account for your family, you may create enrollment forms for each youth and/or leader. Please ensure before you submit your online enrollment forms that you complete the Combined Liability Form. We cannot accept your enrollment without this form completed.
In order to compete in any contests or to show livestock in the 2020-2021 year, you MUST enroll by February 1, 2021! No exceptions will be made.

Buckle Winners
Keep an eye on your email! Junior Livestock will be scheduling a time to pick up buckles at the Otero County Fairgrounds. Thank you cards will be filled out and signed before buckles are distributed.
Livestock exhibitors, do not forget to pick up your buyer photos from the Fair Office and send out thank you letters/cards to anyone who has contributed to the success of your projects this year!
Schedule your Packer Appointments TODAY!
If you plan to purchase any market livestock for the coming year, please make appointments for each market animal you anticipate purchasing NOW. Packers are already filling up as far as the end of next year.
This year, all livestock exhibitors will be required to provide confirmation of packer appointments for every market animal that they tag in. These confirmation will need to include the name of the company, date for processing and the number of each species. The Junior Livestock Committee will verify all appointments. Youth who do not make appointments with packers prior to tagging animals in will not be eligible to tag in, and therefore, will not be eligible to show at the Otero County Fair.
