December Education Explore
Every month's Education Explore Newsletter will have updates from Prince William Public Libraries, as well as information on an amazing digital resource available through our Digital Library, free to all library card holders.
Interested in partnering with the library? We would love to work with you! Whether it is special virtual programs, or conducting library card drives to ensure students have access to our materials, our amazing staff are here to support you. Feel free to email [email protected] or contact the library.
This is a reader's advisory unlike any other. Whether you are looking for a particular book, searching for a new suggested read, or looking for author read-alikes, NoveList Plus is a database designed to bring you the best book lists. Advanced search features allow you to sort titles by age range, genre, Lexile as well as Accelerated Reader level, media mentions, and a lot more! And for younger readers, there's NoveList K-8 Plus, which provides search results aimed for grade school and middle school readers.
PWPL also offers TeenBookCloud, which has e-books for readers in grades 7 and up; BookBrowse for Libraries, which not only provides suggested titles, but also book club resources and author interviews; and Books and Authors, which offers new ways to explore your favorite titles and authors, plus find new ones!
These helpful resources are free with your library card. To check out these resources, visit pwcgov.org/library, click on "Digital Library," then select NoveList Plus using your 14-digit library card barcode to log in. Please note that these resources are only available with the physical library card, not our digital library card.
Featured Digital Resource for November: Lynda.com
Missed last month's resource? Click here to learn more about Lynda.com, which features hundreds of videos and certification programs for both personal and career development. Many of the lessons can be downloaded as zip files and offer program completion certificates that can be added to resumes.
We want to be a resource for you, not just during this time when you're faced with challenges presented by COVID-19, but also when we all progress back into our "new normal." Please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] to discuss additional resources from Prince William Public Libraries.
