Greetings!
The holidays are fast approaching, and to many, it feels like this year has been MUCH longer than just a year. Still, we are so proud of everyone for working hard and keeping their chin up during quarantine, and we know that while this winter break may be a little bit different than the past, it will still be full of joy. We hope that you have a wonderful end of the year, and we'll see you all in 2021!

STEM Grant Opportunity
The Governor's Office of Science, Innovation, and Technology has announced a STEM grant opportunity. Our GEAR UP program aligns with the Nevada STEM Networks goals. There are 3 regional opportunities. Please see the links below. The deadline to apply is January 7th. NOTE: These funds can be used as match!!

This month, we are happy to present our brand new website QR code! The code makes visiting our website much easier than having to copy down the link, and we hope to use it to help others access GEAR UP NV's information with ease.

The QR code is perfect for things like physical posters and flyers, and we encourage everyone to share it wherever they can!
Welcome New GEAR UP Staff!

We are proud to introduce our new Nevada State GEAR UP Director Melissa Schroeder and GEAR UP ASPIRE Director Nicole Stella! We are so excited to begin working with them, and we wish them a fulfilling and successful time with us at GEAR UP NV.

"Dr. Schroeder is passionate about education and working with students to unveil opportunities into careers and higher education. As the first person in her family to graduate from college, she understands how life-changing education can be. She spearheaded the effort to have Clark County certified as an ACT WorkReady Community before moving to the Nevada Department of Education in 2018."
Nicole Stella
GEAR UP ASPIRE Director

"Nicole has worked at UNLV for over five years in academic advising with the Academic Success Center. She has experience working with diverse populations of high-achieving students to support their academic and personal success, particularly in their first year of college. Her academic interests include educational policy and academic underpreparation. Nicole is currently a doctoral student (Higher Education) at UNLV. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys reading, baking, going to concerts, and traveling."
SSA Assembly
Students at Rosemary Clarke Middle School got to take part in a Student Success Agency assembly at the end of last month, where they learned all about SSA and how it is working to help them achieve their higher education goals. We wish the best of luck for them and all our other GEAR UP NV students as we near the end of the year!
