A Message from GBCVB President & CEO Martha J. Sheridan
As 2020 draws to a close, we reflect on a difficult and unprecedented year while looking forward to a 2021 full of promise. Challenging times lie ahead. We remain gripped in a global pandemic that will not subside with the drop of a ball. However, we have faith that as vaccine distribution ramps up in the first quarter of 2021 we will see signs of recovery for our vital industry. And as recovery commences, we will continue to share critical resources and tirelessly advocate on behalf of the travel sector and our member companies. We embrace the role of leadership that will be required.
We recognize that economic recovery cannot restore all the dreams, businesses, and, most importantly, human lives that were lost or uprooted in 2020. When we speak of "recovery," we qualify that word with the very personal and poignant understanding that the toll will never be fully repaid. It can't be.
And yet we persist. We look ahead to 2021 as a year of strength, unity, optimism, and empathy, and we see travel as the key for families, friends and cultures looking to reconnect. Let's turn the page on 2020. We invite you to join us for a very special First Night Celebration tomorrow night. An iconic Boston tradition takes on a new form this year, but let's participate together as we usher in 2021!
