Grants
Recently we have received generous support from two local foundations. The Willett Foundation Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation made a generous grant to support general operations and our upcoming Falmouth Build on Willett Way. We are thankful for their support of our Falmouth projects and look forward to breaking ground on Willett Way in 2021.

We are also thankful to The Kelley Foundation who just made an award to support the current Mashpee Build on Mendes Way. The Kelley Foundation has been very supportive of our efforts over the years helping us most recently with the purchase of a van for our Falmouth ReStore in 2017.
HERS Rating
Have you heard that Habitat Cape Cod has the best HERS ratings of all the Habitats in the United States?

“HERS" stands for Home Energy Rating System. A HERS Rating is the industry standard for measuring the energy efficiency of a home.

It is a overall view of the energy usage of the home; incorporating performance testing, building materials, HVAC equipment, appliances, and lighting. A HERS Rating is the most common method to show compliance with local energy codes, and in Stretch Code communities a HERS Rating is mandatory.

Town News
Sandwich. Cotuit Road and Nauset Street. We are finalizing our Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) application and will submit to the Town of Sandwich in January.

Chatham. George Ryder Road South. We have recorded our comprehensive permit decision and subdivision plan at Barnstable County, and are planning for a January closing on the land. We hope to begin infrastructure work on this project in late fall 2021, with a wall raising in 2022.

Brewster. 26 Red Top Road. We plan to submit our LIP (Local Initiative Project) application to Brewster’s Board of Selectmen at their December 21st meeting. Following our LIP application approval, the next step will be to take this 40B project to Brewster ZBA.

Harwich. Murray Lane.  The 6 foundations are in the works!  If all goes as planned, we will raise walls at Murray Lane in May or June 2021.

Falmouth. Willett Way.  We continue to wait for Building permits for this 10-home project.  When the permits are issued, we will begin putting in the foundations. We plan to raise walls at Willett Way in June 2021 (6 homes) and May 2022 (4 homes).

We continue our assessment of a number of sites in towns across the Cape. We are always on the lookout for suitable sites for Habitat homes. If you would like to consider the donation of a parcel of property, or know of a town owned site that might be suitable, please contact Beth Wade, Director of Land Acquisition & Project Development, at land@habitatcapecod.org or 508-362-3559 x24.  Thank you!

Congratulations!

Sending all our love and best wishes to Alex and Lindsey Belair! They built and purchased their Habitat home this year in Wellfleet and were married soon after.

The ceremony was at the beach and then they held a small reception at their new home!

Desks by Fred
Volunteer Fred Guidi approached us a few weeks ago with the idea of building desks for the kids of Habitat homeowners.

He was inspired by a project called Desks by Dads, and wanted to help children who are doing more learning at home than ever before.

In the past four weeks he has completed and delivered 7 desks! No need to apply for a desk, he will be reaching out to families as he goes.

Thank you Fred!!
