Anthem Enhanced Choice Health Insurance: A New Option for a Changing World
Anthem wants everyone to have health insurance coverage, including those individuals and families whose employment and financial situations do not quite fit the mold for traditional plans. Just as our home and work situations have changed, health insurance must change and adapt to meet new expectations. That is why we created Anthem Enhanced Choice.
What is Anthem Enhanced Choice?
Anthem Enhanced Choice plans support a growing number of people who are not covered by traditional health insurance for various reasons.
· Their employer may not offer health insurance.
· They work side jobs or part-time jobs as a means of employment and do not qualify for health insurance with their employers.
· They are independent contractors, consultants or gig workers.
· They are recently unemployed.
· Even though they are employed, they cannot afford a traditional health insurance plan through the Affordable Care Act without a health insurance subsidy.
What does Anthem Enhanced Choice cover?
Anthem Enhanced Choice coverage includes many of the same comprehensive benefits of employer-based or stand-alone health insurance plans such as:
· 100% preventive care coverage.
· Prescription drug coverage with affordable out-of-pocket copays.
· Access to doctors and hospitals in the Anthem network.
· No referrals for specialist visits.
· Pre-existing condition coverage right from the start for covered services if member enrollment is approved.
What does Anthem Enhanced Choice cost?
Anthem Enhanced Choice offers six plan options to fit your budget and coverage needs for you and your family. Coverage and cost varies based on where you live, the plan you choose, your age, gender, medical history and tobacco usage.
While Anthem Enhanced Choice plans are not compatible with the Affordable Care Act, they are medically underwritten. Consumers receive essential coverage while being able to save with lower premiums versus unsubsidized Affordable Care Act plans. Compare what you might pay for Anthem Enhanced Choice with other health insurance costs.
With more affordability, you have the opportunity to round out your Anthem Enhanced Choice plan coverage with dental and vision coverage for you and your family.
Anthem Enhanced Choice for flexibility
Anthem Enhanced Choice plans were also designed to accommodate changing life situations, providing coverage for 364 days, with the option to apply for additional terms (364 days each).
Another benefit of an Anthem Enhanced Choice plan is that you can apply year round, so you are not restricted by enrollment periods. Anyone within eligible age limits may apply, though factors like height, weight, and medical history are considered when determining eligibility and pricing. Compare Anthem Enhanced Choice with other health insurance plans.
Choosing an Anthem Enhanced Choice plan
Anthem understands that not everyone fits the requirements to receive coverage from traditional health insurance plans. With Anthem Enhanced Choice, you now have more options.
We are here to help you find the preferred plan that fits your budget and provides the essential coverage for you and your family.
Anthem Enhanced Choice coverage is not required to comply with certain federal market requirements for health insurance, principally those contained in the Affordable Care Act. Be sure to check your policy carefully to make sure you are aware of any exclusions or limitations regarding coverage of preexisting conditions or health benefits (such as hospitalization, emergency services, maternity care, preventive care, prescription drugs, and mental health and substance use disorder services). Your policy might also have lifetime and/or annual dollar limits on health benefits. If this coverage expires or you lose eligibility for this coverage, you might have to wait until an open enrollment period to get other health insurance coverage.
Choose an Anthem Enhanced Choice plan that fits your changing health care needs.

Following October Round, TechCred Program to Fund Over 15,000 Credentials
Next application period opens January 4th
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, today announced the results of the October round of TechCred, which will provide the opportunity for 246 Ohio companies to upskill their current and incoming workforce with tech-focused skills.
“Despite the obstacles created by COVID-19, we continue to see great results coming out of the TechCred program. It is helping employers and employees adapt and prevail during very difficult economic conditions," said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. “Today marks another milestone in upskilling opportunities that will help Ohioans earn the tech-focused skills needed to succeed in the changing workplace.”
The most recent TechCred application period closed at the end of October. Today, 246 Ohio employers were approved for funding, resulting in Ohio employees earning up to 3,164 technology-focused credentials. This round marks a milestone as funding for the program has been approved for over 15,000 credentials.
In August, the TechCred program exceeded 10,000 tech-focused credentials, fulfilling a commitment made by Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted to fund 10,000 technology-focused credentials each year.
“Businesses prioritize access to a skilled workforce when determining where to locate their facilities,” said Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Development Services Agency. “TechCred has funded more than 15,000 credentials in the last year to ensure we have the talent to compete in a tech-driven economy.”
With the approvals announced today, a total of 966 Ohio employers have been approved for funding, supporting the earning of 15,105 tech-focused credentials by Ohio employees.
The next TechCred application period opens Monday, January 4th and closes January 29th at 3:00 p.m. Businesses with employees who have completed their TechCred training are reminded to submit proof of credential completion to receive reimbursement at TechCred.Ohio.gov.
“I’m pleased that nearly 1,000 employers have used the TechCred program to their benefit and, even more, to the benefit of their employees,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner. “The thousands of credentials earned further strengthens Ohio’s workforce and provides great momentum on which to build as we head into a new application period and a new year.”
