Pain Fellows Complete Cadaver Course
Fellows in the College of Nursing's Advanced Pain Management Fellowship Program recently met for its annual Interventional Cadaver Course Training.

The three-day event held at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) in Tampa is the culmination of the one-year fellowship program for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).

The majority of fellows work in underserved and rural communities where advanced pain management services are nonexistent.
Kimberly Hoefer, the College of Nursing's first U.S. Coast Guard V-CARE nursing student, has won a 2020 Honor-A-Bull award in the health sciences category.

Hoefer "has demonstrated impeccable leadership skills that set her apart from her peers," according to her nomination.

She is set to graduate magna cum laude in December.
The College of Nursing announced 21 faculty members were nominated for the inaugural DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty.

The college will host the inaugural DAISY Award Ceremony on Dec. 4 where the nominees will be honored and the college's first DAISY winner will be announced.
To gather or not to gather? That is the question this holiday season as the coronavirus pandemic rages across Florida, including in the Tampa Bay region.

Local health leaders and experts, including College of Nursing Dean Usha Menon, shared how they will safely spend the socially distanced holidays.
USF Health College of Nursing leaders will be discussing a new partnership with Port Tampa Bay called Supporting Healthy Infection Prevention Practices (SHIPP) during a webcast at noon Dec. 3. SHIPP is the latest Leaders in Care project and aims to improve safety practices for seafarers and maritime workers.
Leslie Lockett, director of the RN to BSN pathway, recently completed her DNP project presentation, “Improving role-specific utilization of the electronic health record in an assisted living setting” for the degree of Doctor of Nursing Practice.

She will graduate from UCF on Dec. 18.
Assistant Professor Rayna Letourneau will be on a panel of experts discussing "The Role of Nurses" during the COVID-19 health crisis as part of an executive briefing analyzing the pandemic's economic and policy impacts.

The event is organized by the Global Interdependence Center and will convene at noon Dec. 3.
Congratulation to College of Nursing Associate Professor Kenneth Wofford, who recently became a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).

The certification recognizes expertise in simulation and improves health care simulation education by providing a standardization and a pool of knowledge of best practices.
Congratulations to College of Nursing Instructor Patty O'Donnell on her retirement.

O'Donnell has taught in the RN to BSN pathway since 2011. She has been recognized by her students with a Golden Apple award for teaching and has been instrumental in getting first semester RN to BSN students reacclimated to academia.
Congratulations to College of Nursing Associate Director of Educational Design & Technology Tasha Brown on passing the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam.

The PMP designation recognizes individuals with an in-depth knowledge of project management skills and training.
