Hello December!

We have a plethora of newly released books and DVDs for adults and children to borrow and enjoy! Use our curbside pickup, which is open 10-1 Monday through Saturday, to take advantage!

To celebrate the season, there will be a selection of jigsaw puzzles available to borrow on our front table, which will be quarantined upon return. Adult coloring sheets will also be offered.

Holiday Closing
Please note that the library will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Thursday and Friday, December 24th and 25th.
Curbside Pickup Details
  • Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 am – 1 pm
  • Patrons may call the library at 732-747-9649 to place holds for items or by using our online catalog
  • Holds are available for items owned by the Little Silver Library and the Monmouth County Library.
  • Patrons will receive a call when their item is available and will be held up to three days. 
  • Patrons are asked to call the library at 732-747-9649 to arrange for front table pickup.
  • All items must be returned in the bookdrop and shall be quarantined for 3 days for everyone’s safety.

Children's Books for the Winter Season

The Mitten by Jan Brett
Based on a Ukranian folk story, a little boy named Nicki gets a pair of beautiful white mittens. Read to see what creatures do when they encounter the mitten! Brett’s signature illustration style and retelling allows for a great winter story.

Outside by Deirdre Gill
A child’s imagination comes to life as he explores the wintry world around him. An adorable picture book both written and illustrated by Deirdre Gill.

The Snow Day by Komako Sakai
When snowfall prevents a young rabbit from having school, she and her mother discover the magic of fresh snow. 

A Whisper In the Snow by Kate Westerlund
A group of mice and rabbits find a lost teddy bear in the snow! With hard work and some determination, maybe they can help it find its way back home. 

Winter Is Here by Kevin Henkes
Henkes’s picture book describes the wonders of winter and how it changes everyday life. 

Winter is for Snow by Robert Neubecker
One sibling loves winter, one would rather stay home and snuggle in bed. Will she learn to appreciate the beauty of this season? 

Ant and Honey Bee: A Pair of Friends in Winter by Megan McDonald
For more advanced readers, this easy reading chapter book is the perfect tale of friendship during cold winter months. 

Winter Solstice by Ellen B. Jackson
Learn about the origins of winter traditions such as Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas!

Waiting for Winter by Sebastian Meschenmoser
A group of animals that have never before seen snow are determined to catch a glimpse at falling flakes. Join them in their journey of discovering snow.

Children's Special Events
Jump into Dinosaurs with Jumpin' Jamie!
Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 am


Join us for an interactive puppet show and original dinosaur inspired music event that will get everyone dancing and singing! 
Premiering December 12 at 10:00 am and will be available for on- demand viewing through January 12th.
Non-Fiction/History Book Club
"Bellevue" by David Oshinsky is the new Non-Fiction/History Book Club choice. Meeting date is Monday, December 14th at 7 pm. Call the Library at 732-747-9649 for details and to borrow a copy of the book!

Children's Storytime and Craft
As always, we have lots of fun storytime activities for the kids from Ms. Danya, Ms. Robin and the Monmouth County Library. You can find them here!
Take 'N Make Crafts!
We've created "Take 'N Make Craft" kits for our littlest patrons to enjoy! They are available on the curbside pickup table in the library vestibule! Available while supplies last! Look for Holiday Craft Surprise starting the week of December 14th!
Book Drop
Our book drop is open if you want to return your books! Please only drop off library books. We cannot accept book donations at this time!

Our WiFi patio is always available for your use!
