The End of the Unprecedented Year
|
What can we say about 2020? Unprecedented, unimaginable, uncertain, and unlikely are all words engrained in my memories from 2020. It's been an interesting time, and I'm proud of all we accomplished together despite the challenges we faced.
Happy Holidays to you, my nonprofit friends. You do incredible work to make our community a better place to live, work, play, include, and care for others.
Stay safe, be well, and as always, stay connected,
Carrie Walker, Nonprofit Network Manager

Join the Next Group of Future Board Members with BOLD Program
Applications for United Way of East Central Iowa's Board Orientation & Leadership Development (BOLD) program are now available. This program equips those interested in board service with the knowledge and skills needed to serve on a nonprofit board or committee. This will be the third class to participate in the six-month program. One of the core goals of the BOLD program is to increase the diversity of volunteer leadership in our community. For the Class of 2021, United Way and the Cedar Rapids NAACP have partnered to provide scholarships for up to four BOLD participants that are part of diverse communities such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, and other groups who are not often represented in nonprofit governance. Program applications are due on January 5, 2021. Program details here, schedule here, and application here.
