We here at the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission want to wish you a happy new year!
Our last newsletter of 2021 features a Humboldt treasure, the Motor Vehicle Madaket. "Built in 1909, launched in 1910 and refurbished in 1989, she is a reminder of our bay's maritime past preserved for the future and has become a vital part of the local heritage tourist industry.
The Madaket is one of 700 historic vessels registered in the United States. She was built for the shallow waters of Humboldt Bay at Fairhaven, in 1909. 47.5 feet in length, 12 foot at the beam and draws a mere 3.75 feet. Launched onto its placid waters on June 6th, 1910, She is the oldest passenger carrying vessel in continuous service in the United States and boasts the smallest licensed bar in California."
This film-friendly vessel can give your production a unique look both aboard and with the backdrop of Eureka, Samoa, and the rest of Humboldt Bay surrounding you as you film on board. You can look but you won't find anything quite like her or our lovely bay. This may be exactly what your production is looking for...
