Patient Testimonial--Jan's Story

"MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you and my prayers for a Very Blessed 2022. I have to commend Health & Hope for all you do for people in need. Before I had medicare, your organization was my absolute Lifeline. You got me the cure for HepC which I had contracted over 40 years ago selling plasma while in college. You helped me get my Type II Diabetes under control. Over the years I have referred many friends in need to Health & Hope. THANK YOU from the depth of my being!"

Volunteer Spotlight – Casework/Referral Department (Audrey Blue & Tatijuana Woods)

Audrey Blue

1). How did you start volunteering at the Health and Hope Clinic?

-I was referred by Erin Thompson. I am interested in eventually going to PA school and she suggested that this was the best place to volunteer.

2). What department do you work in at the clinic, and what makes your work meaningful to you?

-I work in casework and as a medical assistant. Both are meaningful positions and important when it comes to taking care of our patients. Not only can we provide for them in-house but we can also provide services outside of our care through partnerships in our community.

3). What skills have you learned from working at the clinic?

-I have learned how to determine ICD-10 codes, I have learned how to check in a patient to begin their appointment, I have learned how to use order facilitator to process diagnostic referrals, and so much more.

4). What is one of your favorite memories and/or experiences during the time you have been at the clinic?

-I enjoyed helping the clinic get rid of their back log of referrals and facilitate a way to involve everyone in casework. I have also enjoyed working with all of the different roles here and learning how the clinic successfully runs.

5). What do you enjoy the most about being a part of the team at the clinic?

-I enjoy seeing people who genuinely care about taking care of those in need and coming together to achieve that goal.

6). What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

-I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in my free time.

Tatijuana Woods

1). How did you start volunteering at the Health and Hope Clinic?

-I started back in April of this year. I was looking for clinics to volunteer at online and I came across Health & Hope!

2). What department do you work in at the clinic, and what makes your work meaningful to you?

- I work mainly in casework but I'm also a Medical Assistant. Casework is my favorite because I like to help others behind the scenes. I'm not a very talkative person, so when I'm working in casework, I don't have to talk as much but at the same time, I'm still assisting others.

3). What skills have you learned from working at the clinic?

- My communication skills are getting better. I've also learned administrative skills, I've become more attentive to detail, and my knowledge of basic medical terms is increasing.

4). What is one of your favorite memories and/or experiences during the time you have been at the clinic?

- I actually have two of them! I enjoyed the Christmas Gala we had this year, and I loved Hahn Saturday where I assisted Dr. Hahn with biopsy procedures. I got to witness some really cool things on that day!

5). What do you enjoy the most about being a part of the team at the clinic?

-I enjoy the actual team itself. The environment at the clinic is always so cheerful, and it makes me look forward to coming in on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

6). What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

-I like going to the gym, but when I'm not at the gym, I just like resting at home in bed.
