The annual Village Square Tree Lighting organized by Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will be this Thursday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. Racine Co. The 2021 property tax bills (payable in 2022) are now available online and will be mailed to property owners by December 10, 2021. For more information on tax bill payment options, click here.
The total net property tax rate for the 2021 tax bills is $16.92 per $1,000 in assessed value. Properties that had an average increase of 21.8% to their property assessment as a result of the 2021 re-assessment will see little-to-no change in the total property tax bill amount.
Village Budget Adopted
On November 22, the Village Board held a public hearing on the 2022 Budget and subsequently adopted the budget and the property tax levy. The budget can be viewed on the Taxes & Budgets webpage.

The Village's Recreation & Parks Committee has been busy working on a schedule of new program offerings for the new year! We are pleased to offer a variety of programs to serve a range of ages and abilities. It would not be possible without area residents like Christine McBryde and Eric Elliot who have stepped forward to help lead the new programs!
Ongoing recreation programs at the Municipal Center (no advanced registration required, unless otherwise noted):
- Chair Yoga - Tue. (Weekly), 9-10 a.m. $12/session.
- Mixed Flow Yoga - Tue. (Weekly), 6-7 p.m. $12/session.
- Toddler Yoga - Thur. (Weekly), 12:30-1:15 p.m. Ages 2-4. $12/session.
- Youth Karate - Thur. (Weekly), 5-6 p.m. Ages 8-12. $12/session.
- Adult Karate - Thur. (Weekly), 6-7 p.m. Ages 13+. $12/session.
- Make & Take - 1st Tue. (Monthly), 7:30-9:30 p.m. Cost varies by project; register in advance.
- Yoga Nidra - 2nd Tue. (Monthly), 7:30-8:30 p.m. $12/session.
- Restorative Yoga - 3rd Tue. (Monthly), 7:30-8:30 p.m. $12/session.
Youth Basketball Registration Closes Dec. 20
Registration for Union Grove Rec. Department youth basketball leagues is open through December 20. Practices will start the week of January 4. Games will take place at Union Grove Elementary School on Saturdays from January 15 through February 26. We will be in need of parents interested in serving as coaches and assistant coaches - please mark on the registration form if you are interested! Registration can be done at the online, at Village Offices during normal business hours (Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), by mail or dropbox. Industrial Park Construction Updates |
|
Crews are working on concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons on 10th Ave. this week. Final road paving has been completed throughout the project area, with exception of a section on 10th Ave. from Center St. to Main St. Crews will return in early spring to pave this section and add drainage improvements. Thank you to all of the businesses, their employees, and residents along the project area for their patience with the construction activity this year! |

New "Drive Up" Municipal Center Dropbox |
|
A new "drive-up" dropbox is available at the west end of the Municipal Center parking lot for dropping off tax payments, utility payments, forms or other documents without having to leave your car. Please do not leave cash in the dropbox. The dropbox serves both Union Grove and Yorkville. The old dropbox near the building entrance has been removed. Note that unwanted medicine should not be left in the dropbox and should be placed in the medicine collection box found inside the front entrance of the building. |

Administrator's Weekly Updates |
|
A new weekly e-mail is available from the Village of Union Grove. "Village Administrator's Weekly Updates" provides a weekly recap of Village Board and Committee meetings that took place during the past week. The e-mail also gives brief highlights from the week and a look ahead to meetings and events scheduled in the upcoming week. Individuals who currently receive the Monthly E-News will automatically receive the Village Administrator's Weekly Updates, which will typically be distributed on Fridays. If you do not wish to receive the weekly e-mails (or monthly), you can the unsubscribe or "update profile" link found at the end of all e-mails. Alternate side parking is in effect November 15 through March 15. During this period, overnight parking is permitted only on the even-numbered side of the street on the nights bearing an even calendar date during the hours from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., and on the odd-numbered side of the street on those nights bearing an odd calendar date during the hours from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. on any street in the Village, except Main Street where there is no overnight parking. Motorists who fail to observe these regulations may be fined, and their vehicles may be towed.
Snow Emergencies
In the event that a snow emergency is declared, all vehicles must be off the streets to give snowplows and emergency vehicles better access to area roads. Snow emergencies are announced on the Village website and on local news outlets.

2022 Dog and Cat Licenses |
|
Dog and cat owners can now obtain 2022 pet licenses. The fee for the license is $10.00 per neutered/spayed animals and $15.00 for un-neutered/un-spayed animals. Three or four pets in any one household requires a Pet Fancier's License which costs $10.00 in addition to the individual licenses. A Kennel License is required for more than four pets; contact the Village offices for more information on the Kennel License.
Village ordinance requires proof of rabies vaccinations for all cats and dogs. If you have licensed your pet in the past, and the rabies vaccination is still good, you do not need to submit proof - we have it on file. However, if this is a new license, or if your animal was vaccinated in the last year, please provide the certificate from the veterinarian. After March 31, a $10.00 penalty is assessed for each animal, and added to the license fee. If you are requesting licenses by mail or dropbox, please submit your payment and rabies certificate with a license application form.

Nomination Papers Available for Spring Election |
|
Interested in serving the community as a member of the Union Grove Village Board of Trustees? There are opportunities to serve on the Village Board by filing nomination papers to run for Trustee in the Spring Election coming up on April 5, 2022. On the ballot will be Village Trustee positions #2, #4 and #6, currently held by Gordon Svendsen, Adam Graf and Amy Sasse, respectively. The deadline for filing nomination papers is Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Prospective candidates can begin collecting signatures on December 1. The Village Board held regular meetings on November 8 and November 22. Following is a recap of actions that took place:
November 8 Regular Meeting:
- Approved an amendment to the garbage and recycling collection contract with Johns Disposal.
November 22 Regular Meeting:
- Held a public hearing on the proposed 2022 Village Budget.

Approved Resolution 2021-19, adopting the 2022 Village Budget and Utilities Budgets and approving the property tax levy.
- Approved Resolution 2021-20, approving a 3% increase to the Equivalent Runoff Units (ERU) charges for the Storm Water Utility, effective January 1, 2022.

Approved an application submitted by Union Grove Kiwanis requesting a Temporary "Class B" alcohol license to sell wine at the Kiwanis Tree lot on November 27, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Approved a Recreation Contract Instructor Agreement.

Approved Resolution 2021-21, 2022 Village staff compensation schedule.
