NCCAA Receives $25,000 2021 Duke Energy Foundation Social Justice and Racial Equity Grants

NCCAA has received a $25,000 grant to reduce disparate outcomes from the Duke Energy Foundation for North Carolina nonprofits. "Low-wage earners of color have traditionally been left out of the technology explosion," said NCCAA Executive Director Sharon C. Goodson. "Those not immersed in technology get left behind and fast. Our goal is to ensure that families in communities of color are equipped with the high-tech training required to compete in the digital workplace and ultimately lifted out of poverty." READ MORE

We cultivate home as a place of refuge to keep belonging, seek security, and create memories. For those living in poverty, home may have a different connotation, with the worry of meeting basic needs like utility costs, food, and clothing limiting the joy of home. Home maintenance is an extra expense most low-income families are unable to afford. Unsafe living conditions can lead to poorer health and an increased financial burden. READ MORE

NBC has an online “Plan Your Vaccine” tool that shows where vaccines are administered in each state. Users select their state and age group. The tool also provides specific rules for each location.

NC HOPE Program marks its first year with more than a half-billion in rent and utility awards


The NC Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions (HOPE) Program marked its one-year anniversary with more than half a billion dollars awarded in rent and utility assistance.“In its first year, the HOPE Program has helped more than 135,000 North Carolina families stay safe and warm in their homes during the pandemic,” said Gov.
