Goal 3, Strategy 2 of The Racial Equity and Reconciliation Initiative: Initial Report (p. 35) recommends to "Redesign police oversight and accountability through improved complaint and discipline practices" by "Engaging in a formal outside expert study of the Citizen’s Police Complaint Commission (CPCC), to identify necessary changes to its structure and explore creation of a new civilian police oversight body based on models from other California municipalities. Conduct further community outreach to ensure reforms and/or a new oversight body meet community needs".
On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, Polis-Change Integration, the outside evaluation team that led the CPCC evaluation, will host a public presentation to review the recommendations for changes to the CPCC. Use this link to register.

The public will be able to provide input on the recommendations at this meeting and can provide feedback through an online survey. All responses will be confidential and will only be viewed by Polis-Change Integration to ensure that the evaluation remains independent.

COVID-19 Vaccines & Boosters
As the sun sets earlier and the weather cools, more gatherings and activities will take place indoors, where COVID-19 spreads more easily. Studies have shown that vaccine effectiveness can begin to wane after six months and getting a booster will provide added immunity during the busy holiday season and beyond. The City of Long Beach is committed to making sure everyone who lives, works, or learns in Long Beach can receive a vaccine. This includes opportunities to get vaccinated for all people ages 5+ at various locations in Long Beach. Below is the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services December clinic schedule. You can find additional vaccine resources on the VaxLB webpage.
From the Office of Equity to you and your loved ones, we wish you a Happy Holidays!
