2021 HOLIDAY SHOP - A BIG SUCCESS!

At the time of this writing, we are moving out of the 2021 Holiday Shop location. We are thrilled to report that we provided much needed warmth and support to 11,000+ of our lower income Johnson County neighbors this year!

Challenges due to COVID and space limitations were overcome by our amazing volunteers and everyone agrees that the Shop ran very smoothly.

NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

We are happy to introduce our new Executive Director: Nina Kimbrough. Those of you who have not yet met her will certainly have the opportunity to do so in the coming weeks. Welcome to the team, Nina!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. Being Executive Director of the Christmas Bureau is rewarding for two major reasons:

1. The joy, warmth and hope that we give to our low-income neighbors; and

2. The privilege of working with the many wonderful volunteers who serve out of the goodness of their hearts.

The mother who cried when she received a turkey and then said we will have a Christmas dinner now. The mom who thanked us for the winter coats so her children could go outside in the cold. The neighbor who showed us the toy her child had received some 20 years before from the Christmas Bureau as she said we always treasure this toy because it was the only one our child received that year. The many volunteers who work at the Holiday Shop and tell us they are volunteering because they were once a client and want to give back. The child whose only new clothing outfit came from the Christmas Bureau. These and the over 10,000 other neighbors who we help every year. These are the reasons we support the Christmas Bureau.

The warmth and hope that we give to our low-income neighbors is very important and needs to continue. While I will not be serving as the Executive Director, I will continue to support the Christmas Bureau.

This is not a goodbye but rather my transition to a different role. The best thanks I could receive is your continued support of JCCB. Thanks again for letting me serve the Christmas Bureau and our low-income neighbors.
