See what's the buzz this month!
End of Year Impact
Thirteen Barrio Logan College Institute families from our Barrio Logan, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Upward Bound and San Diego Promise sites got into the holiday spirit with the help of our friends at Life Science Cares.

For the second year in a row, Life Science Cares corporate partners have come together to support BLCI families during the holiday season. Families were nominated by program staff to receive gifts and "adopted" by the folks from Life Science Cares companies Gossamer Bio, Boundless Bio, Evoke-Canale, Recludix Pharma, Kate Therapeutics, Alterome Therapeutics, and Halloran Consulting Groups.

Many families had the opportunity to meet with the team that shopped for them and personally thank them for making their holiday season even brighter.

We're excited for our families to be able to unwrap their gifts together as they celebrate the holidays this year. Thank you to Life Science Cares for organizing this special experience for our families this year.
BLCI Christmas Outing
The Old Globe of San Diego invited BLCI families to a family event based on the popular holiday story, A Christmas Carol. Families from BLCI's Barrio Logan and El Cajon sites enjoyed seeing the infamous ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

The Santiago Family was grateful for the opportunity to attend the show as a family. Eighth grade student, Erick had a rough week prior to the show but loved having the holiday outing to look forward to as a chance to bond with his family.

Thank you to the Old Globe of San Diego for the tickets and for providing our students and their families with joyous experiences.
Welcome, Erin!
Barrio Logan College Institute is proud to welcome Erin Miserlis as
BLCI's new Chief Philanthropy Officer! Erin is excited to bring her philanthropy experience to the team and help BLCI students reach their goals and break the cycle of poverty.

"As a first-generation college graduate, the mission was incredibly compelling and relatable. I knew how challenging it was for me to make my way to college and having the chance to use education as a tool to combat poverty is a dream opportunity," Erin shared.

We're looking forward to sharing more about Erin and her experience in the new year!

BLCI Holiday Office Closure
Barrio Logan College Institute will be closed from December 23rd until January 2nd so our students, staff, and volunteers can take a well-deserved break and spend quality time with their loved ones during the holidays.

We look forward to connecting with you when BLCI sites reopen in 2023.
#GiveTheGiftOfEducation
There’s still time to #GivetheGiftofEducation. Since 1996, Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) has been preparing students from underserved communities to become the first in their families to attend and graduate college.

100% of our high school seniors graduate from high school and enroll in college. This is nearly double the national average of first-generation students not benefitting from our program. Visit the link in our below to make a tax-deductible 2022 donation today!
