I grew up in Utica New York and as a young man attended art classes at Munson William Proctor School of Art in Utica, NY. I was greatly
influenced by the art at the Museum especially the series "The Voyage of Life" by Thomas Cole who was a 19th century Hudson River School artist.
After high school I served in the air force from 1964 - 1968 and was
trained as an cartographer and became a illustrator as well. After
completion of service I returned to upstate NY and enrolled in a
community college and studied commercial art. This same period I
accepted a position with General Electric as an technical illustrator.
This was the beginning of a 40 year career in commercial art and during the same period was painting and attending evening classes toward a fine arts degree at Syracuse University. I moved to Boston in 1978 after accepting a position at Northeastern University as an Graphic Designer. I still attended painting classes at Mass College
of Art and had my home studio where I created my art.
My strength is my diversity and the use of most mediums including
painting in oil, watercolor, gouache and acrylics. My subject matter varies because my interests and passions cover a lot of ground. I enjoy painting people, portraits, landscapes, still life even birds and insects if it fits. My style also is broad because of influences from the masters like Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Manet, Monet, Picasso, Sargent, Matisse, Dali and many more. I am now a full time artist and have had my work shown in the Boston area at Open Studios in the South End and here in Hyde Park for several years. Also I have had my work on display in Jamaica Plain library and many other related venues. MORE

Please visit our Little Art Library at Art Studio 99. Located at 99 Belgrade Avenue Roslindale. Along with all kind of books that the community shares, we leave some art goodies to spark creativity in young and old. We encourage others to recycle any art tools/media and/or art books. The library was created and built by Jason Getz, our son and a Weymouth firefighter.
