A Second Look Inside Las Bodegas

As 2022 comes to an end, THANK YOU to our growing network of donors across CO, CA, TX and NY!

Las Bodegas is about place-keeping, it is a foothold against gentrification and displacement by creating job training opportunities for artists, education, youth, and families close to downtown Denver.

Las Bodegas will bridge two of Denver’s most historic and diverse neighborhoods and will increase opportunities to engage communities across Colorado and beyond. It will take each and every single one of us to make this a reality.

We are at $16,390 of our $20,000 end-of-year goal with only 10 days to go! 

A Heartfelt Thank You to CoBank!

CoBank’s Hispanic Associate Resource Group presented the Latino Cultural Center with a $5,000 Non-Profit Charitable Contribution to support local artists, families and youth!

Their associate-led group has a mission to support local Hispanic/Latino communities in Denver and share their cultura proudly within the bank.  

Musician Registration for the Viva Southwest Mariachi Workshops and Showcase (April 2023) is NOW OPEN!

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Department of Music and The LCAC proudly present the 2023 Viva Southwest Mariachi Workshops & Showcase (VSWS) on April 14 & 15, 2023. Join us on the Auraria Campus for two days of Mariachi lectures, masterclasses, and workshops with Regional Master Mariachi Maestros. VSWS will culminate with a public community showcase featuring participating student groups at The King Center. 

Workshop registration is OPEN to school Mariachi ensembles, and individual students or community members throughout the Southwest. Registrants will attend daily lectures, and break out into workshops according to skill level and instrument.

Auditions are OPEN for the 2023 Mariachi Estelares de Colorado, Colorado’s All-State Youth Mariachi Ensemble! A selection of exceptional students will be selected to work with Mariachi Maestro Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo to learn and master advanced Mariachi musical scores, and will have the special opportunity to perform and open for the headlining act at the Viva Southwest Mariachi Festival in September 2023.

The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago sponsored the VSMF 2022 and

celebrated with us at the VIP fiesta fundraiser at Levitt Pavilion Denver!

Viva Southwest is expanding into a 2-part program with a conference and community showcase in the Spring, and a sensational regional festival and fundraiser in the Fall. We are looking for sponsors to help elevate Mariachi education and create opportunities for these aspiring musicians to keep Mariachi Music thriving in the region.
