SUPPORTING THE LITERARY ARTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Artists Donate Works for ‘Book of Love’
in Support of new Books & Books Literary Foundation
| |
|
In response to reactionary book bans and challenges proliferating across the US and beyond, The Book of Love brings together creatives from around the globe to make shoppable, limited-edition prints inspired by some of the most besieged titles. This initiative champions freedom of expression, thought, and access to information—because stories transform the way we see ourselves and the world.
Launched at Design Miami/ and continuing into the new year with an expanding roster of talents, The Book of Love is raising funds for the Books & Books Literary Foundation and its ongoing efforts to support the right to read. The Miami-based nonprofit’s work is needed now more than ever to combat increasing book challenges, bans, and censorship laws that obstruct access to information and, in turn, damage democracy.
The Book of Love is a collaboration among Design Miami/, Anava Projects, and the Books & Books Literary Foundation. Printing and presentation generously supported by Wet Heat Project.

FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
|
ALERT FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Grant size - $25,000-$600,000 per program per year.

County Offers New Community-Based Organization (CBO) Grant Process:
Applications Due Jan. 31, 2024
| |
Through the Community-Based Organization (CBO) Grant Program, administered by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Miami-Dade County allocates more than $15 million annually to support human and social services delivered by nonprofit CBOs. Current allocations (FY 2023-2024) support 158 CBO programs.
- CBOs help the County reach residents with important services. Daily, residents benefit from CBO services provided in homes, schools, community centers, churches, parks and more. When a family is in crisis, CBOs are a trusted source of help and information.
- The services CBOs deliver to individuals add up to community-wide problem-solving. CBOs provide jobs and contribute to our economy. They mobilize community resources that add tremendous value to other County investments in our community.
Through January 31, 2024, the opportunity is open for CBOs to apply for funding for the next grant cycle. The selection process is competitive. Initial grant awards are anticipated for one year, January 1, 2025 -December 31, 2025, followed by two annual options for renewal (at the discretion of the County). Eligible nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status that provide human and social services in Miami-Dade County are invited to apply. Those challenged to meet application, reporting, or other requirements on their own may partner with another eligible applicant.
