Boysen Park
Boysen Park, named for former Anaheim parks superintendent and boysenberry inventor Rudy Boysen, is beloved by many and affectionately known as "airplane park" for its restored playground fighter jet.
The 24.6-acre park is expanding by 2.5 acres and adding new features based on what we heard from the community.

UPDATE:
We are expanding and updating one of Anaheim's most iconic parks. I am very excited to share that the soil remediation of the baseball and softball fields has been completed. This is a major milestone towards reopening the fields for community and league use. The next step is to begin the rebuilding of the baseball and softball fields in preparation for the 2024 baseball season. This includes irrigation upgrades, re-leveling of fields and reseeding. At the same time, we will continue to see progress made toward the complete Park Refresh.
Some of the other new and updated amenities will include: basketball courts, skate park, play areas, shaded picnic areas, soccer fields, water play spray zone, obstacle or ninja course, fitness equipment, a dog park, and more.

UNDERGROUND CONVERSION PROGRAM | |
UPDATE:
Undergrounding power lines in District 4 continues to improve electric service reliability as underground lines are less prone to outages from wind storms, tree branches, or vehicle accidents. The City’s scope of work along Orangewood Avenue from the 5 Freeway to west of Harbor Boulevard was completed and new power lines are fully operational. There are still telecommunication lines from private carriers that are currently being worked on and anticipated to be removed by Spring 2024.
In October, a new project on Vermont Avenue from State College Boulevard to Anaheim Boulevard, which includes portions of Olive Street and South Street, was designated by City Council as an underground district. The project is now in design and City staff will contact affected residents, schools, and businesses to relocate overhead equipment. This extensive design and permitting process includes easement acquisitions and will take over a year. A construction bid award will then be brought forward to City Council for consideration with start of construction scheduled to begin in Spring 2025.
For more information on the undergrounding program, please visit the program website.

New Playground at Betsy Ross Park
I was excited to visit the newly renovated play area at Ross Park along with students from the Anaheim Family YMCA after school program. The play area features tall towers and slides that were highly requested by Anaheim's youth, as well as a climber spinner, musical instruments and sensory play pieces.
The red, white and blue themed amenities were designed to honor the park's namesake, Betsy Ross.
Check out Ross Park at 1280 W. Santa Ana St.

Veterans Day Ceremony at the Anaheim Veterans Monument
I was honored to be part of this special event. We were joined by Maj. Alexis Federico, who served for a decade in the Marine Corp and reminded all veterans to continue their calling to serve their country and their community in their daily lives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, especially all the veterans.
