The needs of our five programs and the keiki and communities they serve don't end during the holidays. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your time to one of these very worthy programs. It is a great way to brighten up someone's holiday and it is also a great way to get to know other volunteers who are also contributing some of their time during this busy holiday season.

Here are some of the activities that have been reported during the month of November.
OPERATION SCHOOL BELL: Laurelyn Berger, Chair of Operation School Bell®, reported that we are going to have another in-store shopping spree on January 27, 2024 at the Keaumoku Walmart. Save the date and anyone interested can sign-up with Mary Monohon. We are also working with the Maui Relief to find what the students affected by the fire in Lahaina might want or need. Laurelyn is in contact with the people involved, and they are contacting the principals at the schools. We will keep you posted. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and now get ready for Christmas!
OUTREACH: Kamehameha III Elementary School is very appreciative of Outreach's efforts to fulfill requests on the teachers' wish lists. Miho Teipel has been busy ordering their requested items and most of the books, learning games, and other classroom items have been delivered to the teachers and are already being utilized by the students! Thanks have been received by several of the teachers, including the following:
"Thank you for helping replace some of the books I lost in the wildfires. My students are enjoying the new books. The stuffed animals are providing a sense of comfort while students read to them. Mahalo for your generosity and support"

WE CARE: Lullaby Layettes - On November 3, a layette packing party was held at Mary Kay Junk’s home in Kailua. Mary Monohon, Jen Turvold, Arminta Nishimura, Sandy Tamashiro, Peggy Monell and Pat Sanborn all attended and packed 250 layettes. Within a week’s time, 240 layettes were delivered to Castle Hospital, Waikiki PATH Clinic, Waianae Comprehensive, Kona Hospital, Kaiser Mapunapuna Clinic and Kapiolani Hospital. Another Lullaby Layette packing party is being planned for sometime in January 2024.
Malama Bears - On November 10, Mary Monohon was kind enough to step in for Linda Tsark and shipped 60 Malama Bears to Kona Hospital along with 60 sets of Lullaby Layettes.
Domestic Violence Action Center- Linda McColgan and Dianne Girard delivered Body Wash, Diapers and Pullups to the Domestic Violence Action Center in November.
Keiki Kare - On November 16, Arminta Nishimura and Sandy Tamashiro shopped and delivered requested clothing and non-perishable food items to the emergency shelter in Waianae operated by Family Programs Hawaii at a cost of $1021.
We Care is in the process of expanding Keiki Kare service through an agreement with Kinai ‘Eha in Kailua. Kinai ‘Eha serves disconnected youth ages 14-24 who need a safe place to learn, establish positive relationships, gain life skills, attain permanent shelter and employment. Initially, Keiki Kare will be providing Welcome Kits to new residents. The Welcome Kit will consist of bedding, a towel set, and toiletries.
SHARE: Items from our Thrift Shop, passed along to various nonprofit organizations through our Share program, are especially appreciated at this time of year. Karen and Marty Kehoe continue to deliver items to our many partners where needed.
