I don’t know about you, but this fall has been a blur. It shouldn’t be a surprise, because for the most part, every fall is. Such a blur that you might have noticed we skipped a November newsletter! Between the harvest season and the start of the holiday season, it just didn’t happen. I’ve included a few extra articles this time to help make up for it.
I do want to be sure to mention some important programming that will be happening in the near future. A key one that I hope folks will be interested in is a Farm Succession Planning workshop, being held here in Urbana on January 26th. This is one of several workshops being held around the state, with a great lineup of speakers. There is an article with more details, and registration link below. We might have to limit registrations, so get yours in early.
One of the biggest programs we put on throughout the year is the pesticide recertification class for private pesticide application license holders. If you are a license holder up for recertification, you should have recently received a letter from the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture with information on when to attend a recertification class. I will also be sending out a letter to the individuals in the county if they are up to recertify. Anyone is welcome to attend, even if you aren’t up for recertification. Maybe you just want to come for an update or want to get your recertification done early. The Champaign County Recertification class will be held on Feb. 7th, in Urbana at the community center. There will also be a NEW Fertilizer applicator class on Feb. 16th, also in Urbana at the community center. There is a registration link to both below. Please don’t hesitate to email/call with questions on these.
There are several other great programs coming up this winter. Too many to highlight here, but there is information on them below. I hope you will take advantage of them.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, it's going to be here before we know it!
