As 2024 ends and I write my last Chair letter, I want to say thank you to all who have supported the Chamber throughout the year. When you think back at everything the Chamber has done and accomplished over the year you realize it couldn’t be accomplished without your support.
The Chamber staff, Jill and Claudine, have done an amazing job as usual. Besides giving great service to our members and the day-to-day work at the office, they keep our committees and events running smoothly. It amazes me that a staff of two can get so much work done. We are lucky to have such a hardworking, dedicated staff.
I’d also like to thank our Board of Directors for their support throughout the year. It’s been a pleasure serving on the Board and I have learned so much. This group of dedicated professionals has done a great job guiding the Chamber through the year, making sometimes tough decisions. Each Board member brings their own perspective and experience to the Chamber and has helped the Chamber grow.
Of course, we wouldn’t have our events and committees without our committee Chairs. These volunteers help plan our events and meetings. We owe each committee chair a huge “thank you” for all the time and effort they put into running their committee.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, I would like to thank all the volunteers who have donated their time. We had so many great events this year and we couldn’t have done it without our volunteers.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to have served as the 2024 Board Chair. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing members. I’d like to welcome Tom Reif of GCG Financial, LLC as the 2025 Board Chair. Tom has been a Chamber member for many years and his experience will help the Chamber continue to grow through 2025.
On behalf of the Lisle Area Chamber Board of Directors I hope you all have a happy holiday season. I hope to see you at our Annual Luncheon and Holiday Party on December 5th and out future Chamber events.

The Chamber's Annual Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K took place on Sunday, November 17, 2024 through the beautiful Lisle Community Park. Runners and walkers made their way through the winding pathways of the Lisle Community Park course. Thank you to Dan Garvy of the Lisle Park District for event set up and leading the runners on his bike. We also thank the Chamber Board member, Jon Pratscher of the Lisle Park District, for helping with the event.
This event would not be the success it is without the Lisle Park District, Lisle Teens with Character, Lisle Police Department, Lisle/Woodridge Fire District, our sponsors, volunteers, members, runners and walkers.

Valerie Janke
Emerge Wealth Strategies
Valerie Janke has been a Chamber member since 2012 and she joined the Ambassador’s Committee quickly after becoming a member. She sponsors several events for the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce including the Dinner Dance, Wine Event, and 5K.
Valerie is Director of Emerge Wealth Strategies. She works in a financial planning capacity with clients to help them get where they are trying to go in their financial lives. She has been in the financial services industry since 1995 and received her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2012.
She lives in Woodridge and has 1 dog. She is a sucker for a furry face! Valerie works as a Family Mentor with JDRF Illinois because of her close personal connection to Type 1 Diabetes, as well as organizing a walk team for The American Cancer Society’s DuPage Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. She is a regular volunteer at local events.
Valerie enjoys being an Ambassador for the Lisle Area Chamber because it helps her build stronger community relationships. She has a commitment to working in her local community to strengthen ties both personally and professionally. She has made some wonderful friends because of the Chamber.

An end-of-year wrap-up is more than just closing the books; it’s an opportunity to celebrate, reflect, and strategize. By thoughtfully assessing the past and preparing for the future, businesses can position themselves for sustained success in the coming year.
• Lessons Learned: Highlight lessons from both successes and setbacks. Reflect on the strategies that worked and those that didn’t.
• Budget Reconciliation: Ensure all financial records are accurate, invoices are cleared, and expenses are aligned with the forecast.
• Tax Preparation: Start organizing financial documents for tax season to avoid last-minute stress.
• Celebrate Successes: Acknowledge team and individual contributions through awards, celebrating achievements boosts morale and reinforces a sense of purpose.
• Express Gratitude: Send thank-you notes, holiday cards, or gifts to clients and customers. Strengthening relationships at year-end builds loyalty.
• Gather Feedback: Use surveys or reviews to understand customer needs and improve offerings.
• Encourage employees to take time off to recharge. A refreshed workforce is more productive and creative in the New Year.
