A Letter from our Executive Director

Dear South Central LAMP Community,
As the year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for being part of our journey. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing South Central LAMP achieve incredible milestones—dreams that once felt far off, but have now become realities. These accomplishments didn’t happen overnight, nor were they achieved alone. As the saying goes, it takes a village.
To everyone who believes in our mission, thank you. I am deeply grateful to all who contribute to our work: our community, the dedicated South Central LAMP team, the families who commit to our programs, and our generous grantors, donors, Board and committee members. Each of you has played a vital role in our success.
Thank you for believing in the power of collective action to create meaningful change. Despite the challenges we see in the world and in our country, progress is possible when we come together. Change may be slow, but I’m grateful to know that we are moving forward—and it’s all because of you.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday!

Early Childhood Education Program Update

Last Friday, we were thrilled to host our annual Holiday Celebration for our families. This year’s theme was “Grinchmas,” and we were delighted to bring Whoville to life and make Grinchmas an unforgettable experience. During the final week before winter break, we celebrated Spirit Week, with students showcasing their favorite beanies, scarves, and sweaters. On the last day, everyone enjoyed a festive movie with popcorn.
As part of our Holiday Celebration, the children performed for their families. Room 7 sang “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Room 6 performed “Mi Burrito Sabanero,” and Room 5 delighted everyone with “Jingle Bells.” Both the children and teachers were excited to share these performances with our families.
Our EXPL program also joined in the festivities, performing “Mi Burrito Sabanero” for their families and hosting their final holiday celebration of the year before winter break.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors who contributed to our annual toy and gift drive, including those who sponsor our classrooms - Nancee Allen, Ida Barba, Clarion Partners, HBA International, Los Angeles SWAT, Mayfield Senior School, and Ramona Convent Secondary School. Your thoughtfulness and compassion have brought joy and smiles to countless women and children this season.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide toys for all of the children in our programs including their siblings, and gifts for our mothers, creating cherished memories and spreading warmth during the holidays. Your support not only brightens the lives of our students, but also inspires hope and community spirit. We truly appreciate your kindness and commitment to making a difference for the families of South Central Los Angeles!
We also want to give a shout-out to all our volunteers who wrapped toys for our toy drive as well! A big thank you to Mayfield Junior School Alum Council, Mayfield Senior School students, staff and alums, and our current and former Board of Trustees and committee members!

Supporting South Central LAMP by year-end is crucial to ensure we can continue
empowering women and families in South Los Angeles through vital educational programs
and community support. Year-end contributions help bridge funding gaps, sustain impactful
services like parenting and early childhood education, and provide stability for families striving
to build brighter futures. Additionally, donations made before December 31 qualify for tax
deductions, allowing you to make a meaningful difference while maximizing your charitable giving. Your generosity today directly supports a stronger, more resilient community for years to come.
