Dear Members,
Happy New Year! I am excited as we step into the new year, we are presented with fresh opportunities to engage with you as our valued member and support your business growth. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your business at our upcoming events and programs!
A thriving community is defined not only by its physical health but by how its members interact, connect, and support one another. This concept aligns with the principles of the Healthy Communities movement, which emphasizes the importance of community engagement. The movement teaches that communities must define their own vision of health, that the process of engagement is as valuable as the outcomes, and that these processes should be guided by healthy, supportive principles.
At the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to fostering engagement within our community to promote collective well-being. One such initiative is the upcoming Better Life and Health Business Expo, in collaboration with the City of Daytona Beach Shores and Mayor Nancy Miller. The event will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Shores Community Center, located at 3000 Bellemead Dr, Daytona Beach Shores, FL 32118. This Expo will showcase local businesses, with a special focus on health and wellness, offering valuable resources and opportunities for community engagement.
In addition to business displays, the Expo will feature informative seminars on critical topics such as diabetes prevention, heart health, financial wellness, and senior scams. Sessions will start at 10:00 a.m., with a new session every half hour.
Our 2025 Chamber Board Chair, Dan Morris, will open the seminars with his talk on Health Wealth, drawing from his extensive entrepreneurial experience. Additionally, Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood will address the growing issue of Senior Scams, which disproportionately target older adults. In 2023 alone, Florida saw a staggering $654.5 million in losses from fraud cases, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
This event will not only highlight critical health topics but also underscore the power of community engagement in building a healthier, more connected society. To support a culture of health and wellness, we must engage—engage with our potential, with others, and with the communities we serve. By doing so, we can overcome the challenges that hold us back and work together to create a healthier, more vibrant world for everyone.
Wishing you all a healthy, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year!
To Your Success
