Yampa Valley Community Foundation Nonprofit Newsletter

December

We are approaching the end of 2025 and know that most nonprofits are busy with their year-end campaigns and making plans for 2026. We are using this time to look ahead and consider how we can continue to support the nonprofit landscape here in the Yampa Valley.

In this newsletter you will find two grant opportunities, information on the Mental & Behavioral Health Survey, registration for the first session in our Nonprofit Education Series for 2026, and upcoming events for the end of the year.

NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

Mental & Behavioral Health Survey

YVCF and several partner agencies are collaborating on a community-wide mental and behavioral health survey that will help inform future interventions and potentially help bring additional partnerships and funding to this critical issue in Northwest Colorado.

We're asking nonprofits for your help in spreading the word about the survey!

The more participation from a variety of diverse voices, the better the resulting data will be, so we are thankful for your help encouraging participation among your staff, clients, donors, volunteers, and the community at large. Below is a flyer you can print, post, and distribute.

Here are some ways you might spread the word:

  • Share the survey in a client newsletter
  • Print flyers to display in a waiting room or gathering space
  • Talk about the survey in staff meetings
  • Share on your social media channels
  • Ask your fiends and family to participate

We truly appreciate your assistance with this effort!

OPPORTUNITY

Yampa Valley Gives

Next Tuesday, December 9th, is Yampa Valley Gives Day! Make sure you have your communications plan ready to maximize connections with donors and ensure a successful Gives Day! If you haven't signed up for a time slot at the Honk & Wave, check the link below. This is a great opportunity to get out in front of the community and remind them of all the wonderful work nonprofits do here!

As the regional champion for this statewide program, the Yampa Valley Gives landing page yvgives.org displays only nonprofits serving Routt and Moffat Counties, making it easier for donors to find your organization's donate page.

OPPORTUNITY

United Way Holiday Food Card Drive - Moffat County

Do you work with families that fall at or below 300% of poverty and could use support with food insecurity this holiday season?

United Way of the Yampa Valley's Holiday Food Card Program is available for the first time in Moffat County. They are taking nominations of families in need until Saturday, December 6. Nominators are responsible for verifying eligibility criteria of nominees.

If the family does not meet the criteria (300% Federal Poverty Level), but has had a recent event such as a job loss or other circumstance that has left them with food insecurity, please let UWYV know.

Please reach out to Jamie Miller with questions.

LEARNING

GuideStar Candid Profile

GuideStar by Candid provides information regarding a nonprofit's financial information, mission, programming, and leadership with donors, foundations, and corporations. GuideStar serves as an excellent, free resource to highlight the impact of your work to potential funders and potentially help you reach new donors.

This article from Donor Box provides an outline for how to claim and update your GuideStar profile.

1.    Claim your GuideStar profile if you haven't already.

2.    Get Approved

3.    Add facts and figures - this is where you can add information such as your mission, vision, and programs.

When updating your profile, be sure to avoid information that may become out of date, such as upcoming events or short-term projects. Focus instead on the core services you offer - creating a lasting image of what you do!
