December 2025 Nonprofit News | | December Reflections from Christie | | |
As the holiday season settles gently over Greater Cincinnati, I find myself thinking about what really makes a life full. Not the schedules or the deadlines or the countless to do lists, but the moments of care we extend to one another. The choices we make to lift someone up. The courage we show when we decide that our time here should mean something good.
Every day, our nonprofit community proves that a life of meaning is not only possible, it's happening all around us. We create warmth where there is worry. We bring dignity to people who have been overlooked. We build pathways where none existed before. We show by example what it looks like to show up with generous hearts and bold action because it is simply the right thing to do.
As I reflect on this season and on my own journey, I feel a deep gratitude for each one of you. You help shape the quality of life for our neighbors in ways both seen and unseen. You make Cincinnati brighter, kinder and more hopeful.
So here is my holiday wish. May the joy you give to others be returned to you in abundance. May you find peace in the knowledge that your work matters more than you know. And may this season bring you calm, warmth and the quiet satisfaction of a life spent in service to our community.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Christie

At GLAD House, healing begins with safety, stability, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves a future filled with possibility. Their mission is powerful and deeply needed. GLAD House provides a safe, therapeutic community that empowers families to break the cycle of addiction. For children who face parental addiction and food insecurity, their Champs Program is a lifeline. Nutritious meals, consistent supervision, and a nurturing treatment environment allow kids to shift from survival mode to the hope and confidence that spark learning and growth.
Children at GLAD House practice empathy, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution in social skills groups and receive trauma informed support that helps them imagine a future free of addiction. Healing extends beyond the children. Parents, relatives, and caregivers are wrapped in support through family therapy, case management, and trauma-informed parenting education. By strengthening families, GLAD House strengthens the community and lays a foundation for long-term stability that benefits not just individuals, but the broader economy.
As GLAD House grows, it is investing in stronger leadership, greater outreach, and strategic planning that expands support for children affected by parental substance use. And through all of this, their OneSource membership has been a cornerstone.
Executive Coaching through OneSource helped GLAD House leaders clarify their core values and engage passionate, skilled board members who are driving the mission forward. Marketing consulting amplified the organization’s story, helping donors and community partners more clearly understand the transformative impact happening every day. For future expansion, resources like the OneSource Furniture Bank and capital campaign guidance will play a critical role in supporting facility upgrades or potential new locations.
GLAD House thrives through shared strength, collaboration, and community support. As Michelle Cox, Glad House’s passionate Executive Director shares: “The work of GLAD House happens because our community shows up. Every donation, referral, and volunteer hour helps children and families heal, grow stronger, and embrace a future filled with promise.”

There’s a special kind of energy that fills the room when emerging nonprofit leaders commit themselves to growth. It’s hopeful. It’s driven. It’s contagious. And this fall, the ADVANCE Class of 2025 brought all of that and more.
Today, we proudly celebrate this remarkable graduating class. These leaders showed up with curiosity, courage, and a fierce desire to strengthen the missions they serve. They tackled real-world challenges, built new skills, stretched their thinking, and, perhaps most importantly, formed bonds with peers who understand the weight and joy of nonprofit leadership.
ADVANCE exists for exactly this reason. Our nonprofit community needs a strong bench of leaders ready to step up with clarity, confidence, and heart. This program supports those rising leaders as they develop the tools they need to guide teams, steward resources responsibly, communicate with impact, and build organizations that can withstand both uncertainty and opportunity. Cincinnati thrives when its nonprofit leaders do, and this class proved that the future is in good hands.
Of course, every great class has great guides. We extend immense gratitude to Judy Beaudry and Nichole Sims for their stellar facilitation. Their insight, compassion, humor, and rock-solid leadership made this year’s cohort feel supported, challenged, and inspired from day one. Their expertise is the heartbeat of ADVANCE, and their commitment made this class truly shine.
To the Fall 2025 graduates…cheers! You’ve earned this moment. Your communities are already stronger because of the work you’ve done and the work you’re preparing to do next.
And for those ready to follow in their footsteps, great news! Applications are now open for the 2026 ADVANCE Spring/Fall Session. It’s never too soon to apply and take part in something powerful.
