This past October, dozens of family members and loved ones gathered at Valley Children’s Hospital to celebrate a milestone moment for 8-year-old Abigail: the completion of her chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in May of 2024, Abigail’s journey has been marked by courage, resilience and the unwavering support of her care team.
Cheers and joyful tears filled the room as Abigail rang the iconic “no mo’ chemo” bell, surrounded by her family, friends, medical team and Valley Children’s staff. It was a powerful symbol of hope and healing.
From the moment Abigail arrived at Valley Children’s Hospital, she was embraced by expert, compassionate care. Pediatric oncologist Dr. Ruetima Titapiwatanakun, affectionately known as Dr. Ti, led the rapid coordination of surgery to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Throughout her treatment, Abigail was supported by a dedicated team of nurses, case managers, child life specialists, social workers and physicians, all committed to delivering the highest level of care.
During the celebration, several of Abigail’s loved ones shared heartfelt reflections on her journey. Their words of gratitude and joy moved everyone in attendance, reminding us why we bring our best each and every day.
