If you’ve spent any time with me, you know this already: I love city halls — especially council chambers. Not in an abstract, policy-wonk way (although I can do that, too), but in a human, civic-pride-filled way.
There’s something grounding about walking into a city hall. While the architecture may change, and the agendas certainly do, the purpose is constant. City halls are where democracy does its day-to-day work, where communities show up to hammer out priorities and where city staff and elected officials tirelessly solve impossible problems on behalf of their residents.
My passion for boots-on-the-ground public service has turned into a personal quest. I visit council chambers wherever my travels take me, snapping selfies and soaking in each community’s unique character. In 2025 alone, I’ve added 25 more council chambers to my running tally, from desert towns here in California to historic cities farther afield.
Every visit reinforces Tripepi Smith’s vision: to inspire effective civic engagement. We are proud to help the people inside these buildings communicate clearly, cultivate trust and serve their communities.
If your council chambers isn’t on my list yet, consider this an open invitation. I’m always happy to hear what’s working, learn what’s hard and celebrate the good work happening in your city or town. No formal agenda — just a shared appreciation for local government done well.
Safe travels and see you soon,
Ryder Todd Smith
