| | The New Brunswick Tree Lighting at Monument Square Park on December 4 will kick off the holiday season, featuring fun activities throughout a full month of Winter Wonderland festivities. Enjoy live musical entertainment before and after the tree lighting ceremony and bask in the glow of the holiday tree as we flip the switch amongst friends, family, and our community. Don't miss the New Brunswick Winter Wonderland Bazaar, hosted by Asbury Park Bazaar and New Brunswick City Center, on December 4, at Monument Square Park. Enjoy a festive evening under a heated tent, where you can shop with 18 curated artisan vendors offering handmade gifts, art, décor, and seasonal goods. Celebrate with live music, tree lighting, synthetic ice skating, a hot chocolate bar, and seasonal drinks (plus adult beverages). There’s also a festival of trees, a gingerbread house contest, and Santa photo moments, perfect for families. This community event is family-friendly and full of holiday magic. Free.
SparkNight is the free monthly art party at the Zimmerli Art Museum, inviting everyone to explore art, engage their creativity, and have fun! On December 4, join the fun and enjoy a musical performance by White Mountain Apache artist Laura Ortman, in conjunction with her video work in the Zimmerli's current exhibition, Indigenous Identities: Here, Now & Always. New Brunswick City Historian, George Dawson, will host an open house at the Joyce Kilmer House, 17 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, on December 8, in honor of the author and poet and journalist's birthday, who was born there in 1886.

Scrooge is spending Christmas in New Jersey at George St. Playhouse, at Ebenezer Scrooge's Big Jersey Christmas Show through December 21. This fast, funny, and full-of-surprises reimagining of A Christmas Carol takes Dickens’ classic tale and gives it a fresh, local twist. Expect all the traditional ghosts—Past, Present, and Future—along with plenty of Garden State spirit, unexpected laughs, and a dash of holiday magic.
A tradition for sixty years, American Repertory Ballet’s The Nutcracker is one of the longest-running productions in the nation. ARB’s professional company will be joined by students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of Clara, a young girl who receives a magical Christmas gift and embarks on an enchanted journey.
